Quick oil question
Another oil question (i hate)
I decided to get the oil change done by a shop here (lazy idea, i usually do it). . .
to make a stupid story short, the guy put in 10w30, instead of the 5w30...
dude said it was fine, but I'm not sure about that. . . i told him "ill find out and be right back" (my first thought was AZ)
so i'm thinking to go back and get it changed b/c he messed it up anyways--- but how big of a deal is it
i'll just let it go if its not a problem
its mobil synthetic btw
thanks

What is the difference between 5W30 engine oil and 10W30 engine oil?
The only significant difference is that 5W30 offers an additional 5ēC of cold temperature protection, -30ēC vs. -25ēC of the 10W30. Otherwise, 5W30 and 10W30 engine oils have approximately the same characteristics, including viscosities.

so i think i'm good

Add to that the 5w-30 offers 0.5% better fuel efficiency.
Better flow with the 5w-30 thus the better fuel efficiency.
More shear stable with the 10w-30 because of the lesser span thus fewer VIs.
No harm done.

I believe Acura has been putting 10w30 in my TSX ever since I first started getting the oil changed from them. Now, I may be wrong and their sticket may just say 10w30, but you would think they could put the right sticker on the car when they change the oil.
