Looks like a very robust oil for $11/5-quart jug at Walmart. Nice to see them use Antimony and a good dose of Molybdenum in such a low end oil. I expect the 5w-20 version to be just as robust, if not even more. Seems like I've found the next elixir for the TL, and the best bang for your buck, most robust synthetic blend oil for around $2/quart.

How do those numbers compare to Mobil 1 Synthetic?

 

STL,
Additive pack is more robust. However, it doesn't compare to M1 in the same class as M1 is a GrpIV syn where as this is PROBABLY a Grp II+/GrpIII product. In addition, M1's TBN will start out at about 9.5 on the D-4739, whereas this one starts out around 7-7.5 on the D-4739 and 9.0 on the Dexil. Thus, M1 MAY have a longer service life.

However, this oil is VERY hard to beat for its price to performance ratio.

TBN= Total Base Number, amount of active additive in the oil.

D-4739, D-2896, and Dexil are all methods of measuring the TBN.

yeah umm so if money wasn't a problem for an oil change that would be done every couple of months what is the best to get easily or at the dealers

For short, 4-6 mo OCIs, I usually suggest a good dino or blend. The Quaker State 4X4 Blend would be a good oil to use in this case, for 4-6 mo or 3000-5000 mi. OCIs. This service interval is ideal for a short tripper, or a car that puts in less than 10K a year, where an oil change with a quality dino or blend should be done every 6 months, as the car is probably used for many short trips.
