Did anyone get the Paint/Interior Protection Package? According to the Finance Guy, it sounded pretty good if you live in extreme climates since the salt and snow will strip your wax faster than a dancer at KittyKat.

 

Paint / Interior protection package is a total ripoff, for the following reasons:

1) The materials that are affected by extreme climates are already very well protected from rust and other damage. You don't really need the PIP to protect them.

2) It costs the dealer approximately $20 for this treatment, since it's essentially an extra coat of wax on the exterior and scotchgard on the interior. If you're really worried about extreme weather damage, just do it yourself and save the money.

 

I think we had this discussion either here or at the "other" site. The final judgement on it was that is was a waste of money. The only thing it helped was your mind.

If you're going to get it done at the dealer on the interior and exterior of your car, don't walk out paying anything over a hundred bucks for the service. Let them make a couple bucks on it (it costs us about $70 to do fulls seals), but it's a great thing to get if you really want to protect your paint and leather. It takes about 3 hours to do the whole package on the car.
