Programming Keyless Remote

Hey All,

Can any damage occur during the process of programming keyless fobs?

I just ordered a spare and the instructions say that the company is not liable for any electrical malfunctions afterwards -- that kinds scares me.

Is there some type of risk or is it just to cover their butts incase?

Any thoughts?

Sounds like them just covering their asses against dumb owners. You should be fine as long as you follow the instructions.

I got the remote from keyless ride.

It is OEM -- they had a used one so I was able to pick it up for $39.00.

I have been unsuccessful at programming it. The instructions say to turn the ignition on and off 3 times consecutively and then the car should enter programming mode -- but it has not worked.

programming will not damage fob, because the way remote work is by having computer on TSX to remember FOB, thus not changing anything on FOB -the process if program onboard on TSX not FOB. i would troubleshoot with following:
if your old fob still works, that means the programming has failed. because by entering programming mode and completed it, TSX on board computer will erase old memory of old fobs. so you must program all fob at once. i believe TSX is capable to utilized 4 fob max.
or check the FCC# of the fob and make sure they match. for TSX it shall have OUCG8D-387H-A i check the keyless ride and they show TSX with 3 bottons only, and i ask them if it was a mistake but they never reply nor confirm my concer so i did not buy from them.

I can't seem to get the car into the "programming mode".

Here is what I am doing:

1) Turning ignition to the ON position
2) Pressing lock on a transmitter
3) Turning ignition back to lock (position where key is inserted)
4) repeating steps 1-3 twice

According to my instructions, the vehicle is supposed to be in "programming mode" immediately after step 4. It says that once the vehicle enters "programming mode" the memory is cleared. My original remote still works, so this indicates that it is never entering "programming mode".

Can anyone confirm if this is the correct procedure for the TSX?

i asked a member of TL forum a while ago, this is what he suggest, but not guarantee to work-- look like you need to repeat 4 times>??
--please let me know if this works as i will program mine when i got them,

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Press the “LOCK” or “UNLOCK” button on one of the transmitters. (An unprogrammed transmitter can be used for this step.)

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 two more times. Use the same transmitter used in step 2.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

6. Press the “LOCK” or “UNLOCK” button on the same transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm that the system is in programming mode.

7. Press the “LOCK” or “UNLOCK” button on each transmitter. (The system will accept up to four transmitters.) Make sure the power door locks cycle after you push each transmitter button to confirm that the system accepted the transmitter’s code.

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit the programming mode.

make sure you have door close & windows up.
