Pre-purchase inspection?

I have a buyer interested on my car... he wants to do a pre-purchase inspection. What do you guys recommend? Dealer? Third party? He doesn't have anyone in mind.

Id see how much the dealer wants to do one, then work my way down from there.

Personally opinion, that should be his expense, especially if the car is still under factory warranty

Absolutely! He's paying for it.

I did a post-purchase inspection (once over) at my local mechanic after I bought my CPO TSX. If I remember correctly, it was only $60. You could try that instead of the dealer if the buyer agrees to it.

Just be careful, if the buyer "disappears" mid inspection, you'd be stuck footing the bill.

Shouldn't usually the buyer either bring his own mechanic, or have you bring the car to the mechanic's shop? Then they can look through the car to see if there's anything wrong....

He should be paying for it, so whatever floats his boat...

Pre-purchase inspections are common here... You bring it to the (Acura) dealer and he picks up the bill...

Thanks guys. The buyer disappeared, but another showed up...

Maybe I'll find someone in the next couple weeks... it's shopping season.

Yea, i'd just do a dealer one. Unless he has an indy mechanic that he trusts. If he's paying for it, just suggest the dealer. Meet him there and he'll pickup the tab when it's done. He should feel safe that there are no known problems if the car is still under factory warranty.
