Power Steering Pressure Test
Power Steering Pressure Test
My rack sprung a major leak and completely drained the fluid and had to be driven home without any power steering fluid.
I replaced the rack with a brand new Maval rack. After replacement, I followed the Maval procedure to bleed the system of air (ie lock to lock 30 times). I see not bubbles or foamy in the reservoir. No unusual noise, although I've always thought the pump seems to be louder than what it should be since I acquired the car.
Despite all that, I have weak power steering since the replacement. At times, not always, I have this weird vibration noise when turn the wheel hard at a stand still.
It is possible the pump is failing/failed because of the fat it had to be driven home without fluid (about 45 mins drive)?
It's possible I just got a bad rack from Maval, but before I go down that path, I want to make sure my pump is good. One thought I had was to check for pressure. Has anyone ever done a pressure check of your power steering system?
