Power of the Internet

Just purchased a 2006 TSX MT wnavi and couldn't be happier. I have had a Saturn SL2 in the past and this is just as peppy. I traded in a 200 Mustang GT with manual trans for the TSX. I have read on these forums that the TSX is a dog but I believe the manual trans allows you to drive pretty agressively. I am extremely happy with the power and fuel economy. I only had to test drive the vehicle 2 blocks with 4 adults to make up my mind to purchase.
I had test driven a 2006 TL and it seemed nice but a lot like my retired Father's Mercury. Nice but boring. The TSX is fun to drive.

About two weeks ago, I went to Edund's and asked for quotes from 5 local dealers here in San Diego. I have been beseiged with phone calls and emails with prices varying about $1500 to $2000. The best deal was about 30 miles away. He quoted me $28350 for MT w/Navi, trunk insert, splash guards and wheel locks. A few days later, he emailed me saying he would knock off $200 if I purchased by the end of May.
Unfortunately, I had to work last weekend so I couldn't take advantage of the low interest but I knew that in advance.

Yesterday I decided to go to the closest dealer and see what he could do for me. I test drove the car and he quoted me $29900. I slowly pulled out the email offer and he took it to his boss (!). He came back and said that they didn't know how a dealer could make any money at that price, BUT he would match it. $28,150.

The car also had Lojack installed due to thefts at dealerships in San Diego. He said he would give it to me for $500. Upon signing paperwork to close the deal, the money man said that the actual price of Lojack was $585 but the salesman mistakenly quoted me $500 so they would have to honor that offer.

They also gave me Kelly Blue book for my Mustang. I also got the extended $100,000 mile/7 year extended warranty. I got a fairly low interest rate due to a credit score of 812.

So this shows the power of the Internet and thanks to all those posts that I have read from you all on this Forum. It has open my eyes even wider to the power of the Internet. I fell in love with the car and probably would have paid the $29900 and let it go at that. Thank's all.

Congrats on the new car!

Btw- I've never thought of the TSX as a "dog" because it's always been as fast I've ever needed it to be, plus I also drive pretty aggressively in a 5AT (get rid of those crappy OEM tires!), but everyone is different. There are certainly several people that post on this board and elsewhere about how they bought a TSX and ended up wishing they didn't because their main desire is speed speed speed hp hp hp torque torque torque - the balance of everything at a good price that is the TSX seems to have eluded them or for some reason they deluded themselves into thinking the TSX is something it is not.

Long story short, I think you're going to be very happy with your purchase (and I agree with you about the TL - money was not an issue and I gladly chose the TSX over the TL because the TSX has more life, more spirit to it. Well, that and since it's our only car why would I buy a car with a rear seat that can't fold? :-P ).
