Is it possible to change Odometer/Speedometer reading?
Is it possible to change Odometer/Speedometer reading?
Hi all
I hope the title is not too ambiguous.
I'm from Australia and our TSX/Accord model comes standard with 205/55R16 wheels, as you can tell 205 are tiny tires, so if I put 18in mags then the tires will be very low profile ( like rubber band on the 18in ).
So I was thinking is it possible to put bigger tyres ( say 225 or 235 ) and some how change the onboard computer so that it knows its a bigger tyre and will adjust the reading of the speedo and odometer so that it reads true?
cheers
Shania

The ride would be a bit rough since the sidewall height would only be 90mm (3.54 in), versus 94mm (3.70 in) as in my car.
You could definitely do it though.
Otherwise, I don't know the answer to your question.
In days of past you could change out the gear in the speedo so that it read right. But I don't know if you can do this with the TSX.
I don't know exactly what the rule is in Australia, but in the States, any tampering with the odo is illegal. However, considering that the TSX uses a digital odo, you might be able to get someone to adjust the programming to accomodate the new tire circumference, though I don't think anyone has the equipment to tap the TSX ecu just yet. Another thing you could do is manually keep track of the difference in the odo and just adjust yourself mentally to the difference in the speedo.
