Plee to Canadian TSXers

OK, any of you guys with TSXs sold in Cananda can you find out for me how much the parts would cost to install heated side mirrors in my TSX? And exactly which parts would I need?

A telephone number to a dealer's parts department willing to ship parts south or a good web site would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

pr, check out this thread. It has a post from moda_way explaining how its next to impossible to get Heated Mirrors on the US TSX.

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...heated+mirrors

I live in Toronto and barely ever use the heated mirrors. I've had them on all my cars for over 6 years now. Sure they could be helpful but it won't be worth the effort and money needed on your part.

Thanks Domn, we have them on our Outback and I had them on my 97 CL. In KY we have a lot of condensation in the morning. Even when it is not below freezing the mirrors can get pretty fogged up. I could really use them, it is too bad it is not a posibility.

I was in contact with a dealer in Canada this morning via email and this is what he had to say:

"The heated mirrors are about $400 each. The mirror switch is $80. You may also require wire harnesses as they are different in Canadian models than USA models. There is no way to know if you can just install the mirrors and a different switch and have it work unless you were able to talk to the design engineer in Japan.

There is no DRL relay listed for this car either.

Sorry we could not be more helpful."

Thanks,

I find it hard to believe you have to purchase the complete mirror if the heating unit fails. A dealer here in Oregon showed me the parts schematics for the TL and MDX - the heating unit looked to be inclusive in the power motor (actuator) which was only around $50 for each side. Unfortunately, neither would work on the TSX since the housing shapes are completely different.

The heated mirrors have come in handy the few times we've had frost here in southern Ontario. Hopefully, I won't get much use out of the heated mirrors. Translation, I don't want another winter like we had last year in Oakville/Burlington/Hamilton. If I wanted snow I would move back to Ottawa. As for the winter we had two years ago down here, I'd be all over that.

The heated mirrors thing always annoyed me. But, the truth of the matter is, her in Los Angeles, I don't even use the heat or the defrosters in my car. I live very close the ocean, and we do get lots of fog, but I never seem to get fogged up windows.

If I lived in LA I wouldn't want or need heated mirrors. Thanks guys, but it all sounds like too much trouble.

Where I live, this feature would come in handy. Every morning I wake up to frozen condensation all over my car.... worst is that once I can see out my windows I forget the mirrors are useless. The only thing that helps is bags over each mirror but it's a pain to remember to put them on and off. Did I mention I hate one car garages, especially one that houses my summer car!!!

actually u are wrong on that, the coil is in the mirror, and has 2 wires that connect to it, to a power source, get me a set of canadian mirrors and they will be working easily

I've never used it but Rain-X claims to keep your glass surfaces fog free. I know it wouldn't work in frost conditions but have you tried Rain-X to take care of that morning condensation?

The two times that I've used the heated mirrors they worked really well. The frost and ice were off the mirrors in a very short period of time.

Too bad that Acura thought that the U.S. didn't need them and charged more for the car w/o them. I still want those Australia rain-sensing wipers and JDM power rear sunshade!

It does look like you just need to replace the mirror itself and install a new switch plate. No relays or anything. Just have to run an orange wire from the switch to each mirror and attach the other end of the defogger to ground.

Here's how you remove the mirror:

And the electrical:

Thanks Dan,

I may have to try and find some parts before next winter comes along. That certainly seems do-able

There's no way it's impossible to do. People swap in motorized folding mirrors from JDM Integras/civics all the time. Not that big of a difference to swap in heated mirrors.

ok, bump from old... Now that 05 U.S. TSX will have heated mirrors, I wonder if that changes things. Has anyone tried to make the conversion?
