AcuraZiners, (AcuraZinites?)

a TSX newbie here.
I am in the process of purchasing a used 2004 TSX w/navi w/ 40k miles for ~21k.
The carfax report says shows its clean, the owner says no accidents.
I suspect there will be tire wear, brake pad wear, as well as minor scratches and rock chips that comes with a 40k mile used car.

Few questions:
1) Am I getting a good deal? KBB private party value says 20.8k and that's where we sort of met.

2) Will the october release of 2006 TSX push the price of used 04 TSXs down enough that I should perhaps wait an extra couple months? Or do you think that this price a good enough one now to jump on?

3) I'd like to get the car inspected prior to purchase so that I know exactely I am getting. What do you guys suggest? Acura dealership (how much$)? CarFax inspection ($100)?

4) Also, given the relatively high mileage, I am also thinking of purchasing an extended warranty (7yr/100k I believe?). Looking around the forum, the price for the ex.warranty seem to be in the $1500 range. Given the current mileage of 40k, meaning the extended warranty only needs to cover 60k more, $1500 doesn't seem like a no-brainer to me.

1) The deal isn't bad, try to get down a couple hundred bucks more of you can. Your not getting ripped off, but your not stealing it either.

2) The price of the 04 will go down when the 06 comes out, but I doubt it will affect a private party sale like this one very much. If you can afford to wait, it is always better to wait as long as possible (within reason) because cars are constantly depreciating. No flames on this guys, you know what I mean.

3) Depends on if you have a trustworthy mechanic or not, I wouldn't take it to Acura, but I know a honest guy. It might be worth it to you to make sure everything is OK before you take the plung though.

4) Some may disagree here, but your buying basically the most reliable car brand on the road, 40K on a Honda is nothing, I wouldn't extend the warranty unless you really have the extra cash lying around.

 

The deal is not that good. It's about average.
I'd be looking to pay closer to $19-20k for it.

A couple of better deals I've come across, all 04's and 6 speeds

$17k, 40k miles
$18k 50k miles (with Nav, on this forum)
$19.5k 28k miles (on this forum)
$21.5 28k miles (with Nav)

And I'm pretty confident the '06s will drive prices down.
Past history and intuition tells us so.
