Hello, my car is at 8k miles now. Since yesterday, when I started the car, the maintenance light flashes for 5 seconds. I already had my oil change at 5k miles. Anyone had the same problem? Thanks! If not, I probably need to go to the dealer tomorrow.

 

I just did a search, I think the dealer probably didnt reset it when i did the oil change. thx

 

Uh thats because the Maintenance Required lamp has nothing to do with oil changes.

The light is programmed to come on as described below to remind you to get your normal service done.

If you operate using the severe schedule (a 5K oil change would indicate this) you cannot go by the lamp.

I belive its all covered in that dreaded book we all love to hate, the Owners Manual.

Also, in the 2004 TSX Service Manual, page 22-229:

Maintenance Required Indicator Reset Procedure:

Blinking Patterns:

At 7900 (12,640) - 8100 (12,960 km) the lamp blinks for 10 seconds when the ignition switch is turned ON (position II).

At 9,900 (15,840) - 10,100 (16,160 km) the lamp comes on and stays on while the ignition swicth is ON.

This pattern will repeat for every 10,000 miles, ie: at 17,900 the 10 second blink, at 19,900 steady on, etc.

How to Reset:

Press and hold the trip/reset button, turn the ignition switch ON (II), and continue to hold the button for more than 10 seconds.
