Please Contact Navteq!!!!!!!!!

Last night my friend fainted in my car and I had to get her to the hospital. Anyway, i selected the nearest hospital from the navi list choices. Anway, when i reached the destination, there was no hospital, just forest. I had to resort to calling one of my best friend and have him give me directions to a hospital near by from where I was. I reached the hospital and when I got there, I was very muych relived to hear that she was going to be okay. But a shocker i got was that if i brought her 5 minuted later, she would have died in my TL on the way there. I urge you to call Navteq for the sake of you kids, you husband, your wife, your friends, anyone that you love or care about because one day, you might have to rely on the nav to get you to the hospital and behold, it may not be there.

For those who are asking why didn't you call 911, I did, and what they said was that first, they didn't have as accurate location on me after i gave them an intersection, the location of a few shops next to me and the phone number of one of the shops. As well, they said that it would take atleast 10 minutes to get there. My friend was unconsious at this point and barely breathing. That is when i called my friend, and drove almost 95MPH in local residence where the limit was 25.

Also I was in the rental 2006 tl that i have that had a 3.60 Navi disk, which by apline, is the latest. So Please contact them so we can have more of an effect on them.

For those wondering about my friend, she is okay now resting at home. She was discharged at 3 AM today from florida hospital near Ustis.

I know going 95 in a 25 was dangerous, but she had a heart attack for cirying out loud. Just please send them a message to halp save a life one day.

Very glad your friend is doing ok! there are times when 95 just isn't fast enough.

I know the Navi's aren't perfect but I'm speechless.

you would think hospitals would be one of the main places they make sure is perfect with no errors.

but navteq missed that day in common sense learning..... I called them out of fustration with them and the lady i spoke to said that she could not do anything about the situatin excpet report it to navteqs database of incorrect places and it won't be updated until the next navi disk is set.

Glad to hear your friend is still alive.

The Navi system is useful most of the time, but I would not trust my life (or someone else's) with it. This is especially true if you have to find a place based on "keyword" or "name", as it gives you destinations on the other side of the continent.

Maybe I'll go with a brand that has ONSTAR when I get rid this current POS.

first off i'm glad your friend is ok.

as far as who i'd be bitching at........i'd be more pissed at 911 then the NAVI

they are updated more frequently then automotive navigation systems and the fact you gave them landmarks and a phone number of a business should have given them more then enough information for them to find

glad to hear that she was alrite!! i think that our navi is useful for finding the exact address, but to find a place, it's kinda hard.......like last time i wanna go to a post office, the navi bough me to some kind of resid. apartment, so then i gave it a second chance, and it bough me to some shopping mall which again, with no post office........

Glad to hear she is OK. Is that website the place to report incorrect NAVI info? I can be parked in front of the Post Office in Overland Park and it will say the nearest postal location is on the other side of the city in Missouri. Just doesnt make sense.

THe lady said that it was register to a reidential address in tampa, not ustis (or now usless) the address was not listed to them in their directory and they did not have the capibiliteis to track me when i gave them the GPS coordinates.

Man, if only a kid could have ran out into the street, or a school bus pull out in front of you...then you could have killed a whole bunch of people while saving a life.

You don't belong on the road. Go take a CPR class. It has minimal costs, and it won't put you or anyone else in a dangerous situation. You could have pulled over, lowered the seat, and performed CPR while talking to 911 on HFL.

A trivia fact: I forget the exact details, but at the CPR class they said you have a 95% chance of dying if CPR isn't performed. In New York, you have 99% chance of dying (in LA, people may walk around you...in New York, they'll just step over you). In Seattle, you have a 60-70% chance dying...that's because people are required to take CPR classes when they renew their license.

It's not their fault that the address listed for the hospital was erroneously submitted. They can't go across the nation inch by inch to verify all data. And "nearest" doesn't always mean nearest for the navi. Did you even consider looking for the nearest fire department station?

The title of this thread should be: Thank God I'm so lucky that I didn't kill someone!!!!!!!!!!

shes 18, and she weight less than 150 for sure. But she wqs quite heavy when i picked her up and got her to the car. She soesn't have heart issues, but she has celiacs disease where the stomach is affected by stress. And i don't agree what-so-ever with the tread title change that socaltrojan suggested. This thread is about your saftey. I posted this so you would be aware of this issue and so you could look up in you navs that the addresses for the hospitals were right so in the event of an emergency, you could go to the right place. And what do you mean by erranouesly submitted, this is the so-called latest navi disk that was in the car, and this hospital was built way before this was released. What I am saying is that you should contact navteq to tell them to change their ways and to look up the correct addresses for hospitals everywhere in the USA and Canada reguardless of weather it is reported or not.

911 should have been better help. If I were you, I would be focusing my attention on notifying the powers-that-be for the 911 services in that area of what occurred. Maybe an employee didn't do his/her job correctly, or maybe there is an equipment malfunction. 911 not being able to provide services in an emergency situation is not acceptable. Navteq shouldn't be your primary concern as the vast majority of the population doesn't have navigation. The majority do have access to a telephone and 911.

I am a little confused. You stated when you made your original post (at 12:48 pm) that you took your friend to the hospital "last night". Then you stated she was released at 3:00am and that she had a heart attack. Your friend was near death and yet the hospital released her within a few hours? I think you should also be griping with insurance and/or the hospital/physicians as well if this truly did occur.

I am glad your friend is better and will be ok in the end. Please know I'm not thread-bashing or knocking your intentions. But I do think your anger/frustration is pointed in the wrong direction in what may very well be an isolated incident.

You should contact your local news media outlets and let them know what happened with your 911 call.

Did your friend eat something that she wasn't suppose to? Glad to hear she turned out okay.

socali- wrong place to try and make a point. I, as well as everyone else here, understand what you are saying, but if a friend passed out in your car and 911 could not offer help, you would do everything in your power to save them. He knows it was risky, he said he knew it was dangerous. He is not looking to be made a hero here, just to inform people that the navi is not perfect.

And as for not being their fault, it is their job as navi system producers to go across the country and make sure things are where they say they are- that is what they are in business to do.

Tuesday night- she faints while putting stuff in back of the TL
wednesday morning- she is discharged since her heart rate is normal and she is feeling fine, cat-scan showed up nothing and EKG was slightly off. Next day she went to her local doctor and he said that she had a min-heart attack, one that was enough to knock herout due to her other health problems. No ,she did not eat anything wrong, she had gatorade/powerade, and some stuff from the organic food store to ensure that she wouldn't get sick
