Question PIAA super silicone wipers

anyone here tried these wipers??

http://www.piaa.com/WiperBlades/silicone.html

supposedly they leave a silicone film-like substance on the windshield which is better at removing rain droplets.

I've got them on.

Better than stock definitely, but not sure if the difference in rain sweeping performance is any different from stock with Rain-X on the window. I guess you don't need to reapply with the silicone stuff.

But the PIAA white lettering looks cool.

I was looking at that too. How much did you pay for it?

I had them on my last car and got them from tirerack.com. They were ok they, worked like rainX with the stock TSX wipers. Also you had to put some type of silicone gel on the windshield, similar to rainX that comes with the PIAA wipers. Only used them for less than a year so can't provide long term test results.

or

Carbon Fiber Finish

did you just buy the inserts, assuming the 26" and 16" inserts will fit the oem wipers

* PIAA Wiper Blade BLACK SINGLE 16 (400mm) Blade # 5 # 93040
* PIAA Wiper Blade BLACK SINGLE 26 (650mm) Blade # 82 # 93065

Got off Amazon.com, the blades and inserts. Everything shipped for a little under $50

I went with the flat black. I like the stock look it maintains aside from the little PIAA logos.

I had a thread about wipers not too long ago. Someone suggested Rain-X wipers with a little Rain-X solution. I got the wipers from Wal-Mart, believe it or not, for about $9 a piece and bought some solution that you add to your wiper fluid. Works like a charm! I looked at PIAA and they are nice, but my Wal-Mart Rain-X wipers work great. Can't justify the extra $$$...

could have saved more with just the stock wipers and rain-x!

Yeah, I don't think performance-wise I gained all that much in rain sweeping but the little PIAA lettering just looks cool.

bling can get expensive.

I needed new wipers...the stock were actually more expensive to replace than the Rain-x ones.

make sure you just get the inserts and not replace the whole blade... the blade that comes with your car will apply the right pressure... aftermarket wipers tend to be too generic and don't work as well.

so replace rubber insert only... not the whole wiper (metal portion)... if you feel the need to upgrade your wipers

Just a souped down version of the quote because you can't say "PIAA Carbon Fiber Wiper Blades" taste GOOD !

It was purposely done.

Fixed the problem. FYI for anyone who buys these for an '06, you have to bend the upper portion of the 26" blade in order for the entire blade to sit flush against the windshield. I found that if you bend it so that it bows out a little bit, the chatter goes away.

You guys with the 06 should use the Icons because your wiper arm is slightly different to the 04-05, which the PIAAs are designed for. I have the PIAA inserts on for 2 years now and they still don't need replacement!!! OEMs were dying and streaking every 6 months. PIAA > 4 pairs of OEM, that's money saved.

yea i agree my piaas were nice and tight but i ruined it when i hit the wipers when there was a sheet of ice...

so im on rainx blades which are holding up nicely for the price.

bosch i hate those crap they give streaks after a few months always...
tried 3 pairs already and got some kind of streak in a short period of time...

plus i payed like 20 for one...

Yeah, just the one side though because I wasn't able to find for the passager side. They look much cleaner than oem for sure.

I have the Bosch Icons on currently. Have had them on for close to a year. Rained this morning coming into work and they still worked great. I have not any streaking problems like lcrazyaznl mentions. I also use Rain-X windshield wiper fluid though. They got rid of the chatter of the stock wipers also. Had to order driver and passenger through Advanced Auto. I'm pretty sure the total came to around 30 bucks. I would recommend them.

Piaa inserts - will they fit the OEM wiper?

New reply to an OLD post, but - Has anyone tried to replace the OEM wiper blades with a PIAA super silicone replacement blade insert, keeping the OEM arm and spring mechanism? Haven't tried it yet, but looks like it might fit. I have a 2010 TSX btw.
