Passenger side door doesn't auto lock and triggers alarm

Passenger side door doesn't auto lock and triggers alarm
In desperate need of help!
A while back my passenger side door lock stopped work after one of those trying to unlock while someone was pulling the door handle. That lock no longer automatically locks or unlocks with the key fob. No biggie, except now once you manually lock the passenger door and activate the alarm by automatically locking the other doors the alarm will randomly go off. Some times it's constantly other times it won't do go off for a day then will go off.
The shop guys said they can investigate but will take hours of labor just taking the door on and off. Yuck.
1. What's wrong with the passenger door lock?
2. How do I fix the alarm problem?
