Paint - HELP
Paint - HELP
Please help- 2007 TSX Glacier Blue, I recently got the front bumper replaced and it doesn't match the original color. I went back to the shop and he showed me the process of finding the color through his dupont program. I believe the code was B538M, it is now greenish and lighter, he says that he can't do anything about it. I'm just really irritated. Please help- suggestions, correct paint code, anything will help. Thank you.
It could be any number of factors. Your paint could have been faded from the sun. The paint formula might have changed slightly. The painter might not be experienced in formulating the paint.
If you are not satisfied, and the bumper was replaced through your insurance, complain to your insurance company and let them know that you are unsatisfied with the work. If you didn't go through insurance, then you might not have much leverage.
Fight for it...I would be annoyed if it didn't match. Fortunately, the body shop I chose matched my car's paint so perfectly, I almost didn't believe that it was painted (but they did paint all my under bumper scratches from driveways. If he doesn't believe he can fix it, he probably doesn't have enough experience. He should have noticed it while painting and adjusted the formula or something.

Its really hard to match any type of pearl finishes. What the body shop should have done was to blend the paint into the hood and front quarter panels. If your work was done through insurance, you should complain. Since most insurance companies guarantees claim work, you'll be fine.
Yeah, I've had my hood repainted after vandalism and they blended the color onto the fenders and front bumper so that the discrepancy in paint color was barely discernable. They should have done the same for you, but obviously did not.

damn...thats how they do in delaware huh? just walk into a automotive shop and start crackin' jaws. just make sure there arent any cameras recording lol
i would bring it back and demand they repaint it.
My good friend is a painter and he would never let this happen.
Sounds like your body shop just mixed the paint up and sprayed your bumper without even trying to blend your fenders/ hood.... Which is probably due to cost.
My friend says they are supposed to mix the color, and spray it on some type of glossy paper/ plastic and then take it out to the car and compare the color with the fender, or hood. If it doesnt match, the paint specialist can then add whatever color/ additive necessary to change the color slightly.
Sounds like you went to a pretty shoddy body shop

I agree.
shotty work, and a poor quality shop.
every, and I mean every good shop knows one of two things needs to be done.
1. paint needs to be blended into the rest of the car
2. whole car needs to be painted.
frankly some shops do one, some the other, depends on the job really.
just painting the bumper is simply not acceptable.
insurance or not.
it's not the right nor the professional thing to do.

I have a Glacier Blue Metalic 06. I've noticed the bumpers are slightly off on the color - and I believe they are original (I bought the car with 5K miles). It's very slight, but in the sun I can tell. The lip spoiler I ordered was close, but not 100%. I suspect that maybe it's because the paint is over plastic vs. metal.
I think GBM is a very difficult color to match correctly. Even my touch-up paint isn't a perfect match. Had I known I might have worked harder to find a different color. I suspect that if I ever had to replace the bumper I'd be in for the same.
