Outside temperature not correct

I haven't had time to search around or check my helm's yet but I noticed this morning that my outside air temperature was not correct.

On my drive into work, which is about an hour, it went up only 3 degrees and the temp outside was at least 10-12 degrees warmer.

It went from 48 to 51 degrees F.

Could my outside temp gauge (not sure what it's called) be going bad? or is there something else I should check first?

This is much more than a small difference...the range that it is out of sync is about 10-15 degrees

Could the actual sensor be loose? I am not sure where it is on an acura, but on my old Audi it was down on the front grill and i had to zip tie it. If it is lose the temp will fluctuate cause it gets close to the running engine

Read your owner's manual! The adjustment process is included.

I have found during my drives I pass many businesses that have time and temperature signs. It is amazing how different the temperatures can be in a short distance of travel. (anywhere from being the same to 10 or more degrees different. I think it has lots to due to where exactly the sign is located. I compare the temp. showing in my car-same thing.

Maybe you have more faith in those billboard thermometers than I do, but I don't trust them any further than I can throw them. It's actually kind of tough (I think) to determine if your on board thermometer is at all accurate. It may sound over the top, but what I do is put a thermometer that I trust at the end of a long, straight stretch of road (in the shade) and drive back and forth for about a mile to give the on board thermometer time to stabilize (there was a service bulletin on the thermometer a few years back (copied in that forum here actually) that explained the methodology used by the thermometer and it's much more complicated than you'd think) and then I compare the two. I've only had to adjust my 05 once, and my wife's 07 is still accurate. When you live here (Northeast), where we actually have winter, I find an accurate on board thermometer critical when the temps. drop (and stay) around the freezing point. It sucks being on the highway and you're trying to decide "is that water, or wet ice?". An accurate thermometer can be a huge help and avoid finding out the hard way.

The majority of the billboard time/temp. signs are accurate enough for me. I am not that picky when it comes to what temp shows up. I grew up in the Northeast so I know the cold and snow.
