Ok,climate control question?

Maybe I am just too newbie. I set the temperature at 21 degrees but without the AUTO turned on.The air that blown out is cold however the outside temp is like 9??
I was thinking that even if the AUTO is not on,the climate control should be able to give me some warm air after driving it for like 10 minutes or so? It's always cold and feel cold too. What should be ideal way to set the temp in the cabin without consume too much gas?
I apologize if it's a re-post or this qustion is too newbie..... :shakehead

Nope...the temperature you set will affect the temperature of the air. Without the auto, the climate control acts as a traditional air-conditiong system in most cars.

If you're concerned about fuel consumption, just turn off the A/C compressor, which should be an issue if you're looking for heat.

Thanx CGTSX2004 for the reply. But,since the temp I set is 21,why it's so cold.....I need to try put in AUTO first I guess or what......

I am not sure if I'm understanding you right but this car does not act as a traditional AC even with auto off.

When I turn off the auto, that means I am only controlling the fan speed of the "auto" AC. For example, I usually set the temp at 72F and when inside the car gets too hot, it will give me cold air to cool it down a bit. But even if I turn off the auto off and manually set my AC leaving it 72F temp, it won't give me 72F air but the cold air(acting like auto except fan speed).

I wonder why too.. WHY it's really annoying, i want traditional AC sometimes..

Basically, 72 degrees is like setting the temperature switch on a traditional AC in the middle near where the hot and cold areas are about equal. When I had my Integra, if I set it around there, the air was still relatively cool.

humm,intriguing.... Seems like in order to reach a certain temp, the AUTO has to be on?

I really dislike auto climate control, and wish I had a manual system. My previous '94 Maxima also had climate control that I hated, but I assumed my TSX, with 11 years of advanced technology would have worked better. But, it doesn't it works the same way.

What makes the system so annoying is it will always try to adjust temperature no matter what the environment conditions. So if its freezing outside and the temp gets 1 degree above your set temp, it starts dumping cold air into the car.

These systems need to be set up more like a home system where it can be set to heat or cool mode. So in heat mode it brings it up to the set temp and doesn't do anything else until the temp drops below that set temp. Rather than immediately switching to cool mode when it's 1 degree over.

Ultimately I would prefer to have all possible modes:
-Full Auto
-Heat
-Cool
-Full Manual

I know I'm in the majority, but I love the heating and cooling controls in the TSX. I've never had an issue getting it as cold as I wanted or as hot as I wanted. Strangely enough when I click the button that changes the temp it actually changes the temp. I usually don't use auto, but opt for the in car circulation instead just because I like smelling leather instead of fumes. Still seems to work great. Full control over fan speed, mode, and temp. I couldn't ask for more.

Really like the climate control..works superb!!

To my experience (not used it this way very much)...when having your climate control on 'auto' ... and then turn off the a/c with the 'a/c-button' ... the climate control controls the temperature in the car without using the a/c .. so fuel saving a bit.

actually I tested last few days and just as I described, I do not have traditional manual control. All I can control is the fan speed. Try it for yourself, in the morning when your car is cold, set the temperature at 68 degrees in manual mode - - do whatever, ie. AC off, vent and floors, and fanspeed 3. It will give you very HOT air (definately not 68degrees), and slowly, it will give you cooler air. Then change the temperature to 72 degrees. Again, it will give you warm air first then turn into cool air later just like auto climate control.

.... is it only me?

maybe the difference is you have a navigation system in it? I haven't ..

I find that the air blowing in is colder than what you set it at also. (if you're not in auto) I usually have mine set at 23-24 and I know that the temperature in the cabin is probably about 19-20 or so.

I love the auto climate control. If its too hot just click it down a few degrees. If its too cold just click it up a few degrees. From what I could tell if it was blowing cold air on auto i would just click it up a degree or 2 and nothing would come out at all, untill the cabin became too cold.

the sunray sensor sometimes causes the too cold air...the only 'not perfect thing' about the climate control.

I'm with CKcentral. That's how I usually use the auto when I have it on.

Oh, and I have to say EuroAccord2.4AT, that is an awesome avatar!

You can turn off AC with AUTO ON??? I can't do it and I tried that today. I have a 05' with Navi...but if I have AC off, my AUTO Climate Control must be off. Anyway to get around it?

@ swirlie: thanks, after seeing is for many times, I can still laugh about myself

@ bibby: for me it only works when 'auto' is set on first (and 'a/c-light' automaticly goed on), and then putting a/c button off. The other way around doesn't work for me.

If you feel the air blowing out is too cold, just turn off the compressor with the "a/c" button (should show "a/c off" on screen)...

The air that blows out usually feels cooler if you have the compressor on (not sure why).... but I usually turn off the compressor when I use the heat anyway... fast way to do it is to press a/c twice... not sure why they can't just put a button that only turns on the fan without the compressor on, which will be more conveniet.

Auto or not shouldn't matter, since the compressor is on in both cases.. (I think some of us are confusing Auto/Manual vs compress on/off)...

BTW, the system will still be in Auto mode, as long as you don't adjust fan speed and where it's routing the air to... only if you adjust eithre of these will the system go into manual mode

i tried turning "ON the Auto", then turn "OFF the AC"....then my AUTO light automatically turns off once I do that...and I have a Navi...so the buttons are slightly different I believe?

Auto will turn off if you turn AC off. Reason is, is cause now the car has no way to cool the car if temps get too high, so it's not really auto anymore is it. But the fan speed still works just as it would in auto mode.

In auto mode you have to have it a few degrees warmer since the AC is constantly running.
