oil change question

Should I bring in my own oil for an oil change...such as Mobil 1 synthetic oil....or should I just let the dealers use whatever they use on TSXs?

If you are picky about your car, then try to do your own oil changes. If you let the dealer put whatever in, then it may not be the correct weight oil (it has happened to people before). However, I would specify the oil you want in the engine if you go that route. If you bring in your own oil, how do you know the greedy kid who changes oil actually puts them in?

I've asked for the empty bottles back before. This gave me some bad looks.

I know time is money but it is still worth it to me to have my hands dirty & 30 minutes of my time taken to be assured the oil I purchased is put in.

I would bring in your own oil if you care that much. My wife took ours to the dealer for the first freebie and I found out later they put in 5w-20. I will be changing it myself from here on out and will add one more change of dino oil and then switch to Mobil 1.

If I recall correctly, there was a thread about using 5w-20 or even 0w-20 and dealers actually insisting the requirments now allow for this viscosity.

edit - Here's the link:

I change the oil all the time and let the dealer do it the last time. The car certainly felt like crap, put synthetic back in and now it reminds me why we do synthetic in the first place.

The 500 miles I drove on the dino oil at least acts like a cleaner./
