Oil Change

I've been told to do the first oil change at 3750 miles. I have a very tight schedule and I may not be able to until 4100 or so. Is this problematic, or is it ok?

3750 is half the number of miles that older acura's had for a regular maintainance oil change. The TSX has a 10K mile interval now so if you want to change your oil using the same logic as in the past... I would change it at 5K miles.

My TSX owner's manual says to change the oil at 10,000 miles and to change the oil filter every 20,000 miles. Does yours say something different?

Oh my god! At 3800 miles the hood will start turning orange as the engine heats up due to excess sludge buildup. By 3900 miles the throttle body will fuse in open position, by 4000 miles the valves will melt and by 4100 the engine will seize. Do it right away!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. You'll be fine at 4100 miles. The manual says the FIRST change should be at 10,000 miles. If you change it every 5K the engine will be fine. Most likely, with regular oil changes and service, the car will rust out before you have any real engine trouble. Happy trails.

I have followed a strict 3750 change on all of my past new vehicles. I think I will go out to 5k for the TSX. I have never experienced a single motor problem with several Honda's that were not driven nicely
