OEM Body Kit - Scraping?

This is a questions for anyone with an OEM body kit and their car not lowered.

Does your car feel low?
Do you have to slow down more for bumps than if you didn't have the body kit?
Do you have to slow over speed bumps? Does the bodykit scrape on speedbumps?

I want to get a body kit and I'm just wondering if getting one will make me have to change my driving style?

I had a lowered civic for 6 years or so...and after getting my TSX about 3 months ago..I have really enjoyed the ride and not having to worry about bumps..etc.

I really like how the body kit looks though, so I'm not sure what to do!

Just thought I would ask everyone..what they thought!

I'm sure your style will have to change, No one I've met with a kit and drop can just drive like they used to. Go over bumps slow, steep slopes on an angle.. etc. My friend had his Type-R dropped so low, I'll try to get pics of it.. my TSX looks like a SUV next to it.

I'm going to get a OEM kit soon w/ coilovers, I dont' mind going slower over bumps, the car will look so much better :twocents:

i have eibach's with my body kit and still don't slow down for bumps, never scraped it. i don't worry at all when I'm driving, its got enough clearence that I'm thinking of dropping it some more since I have room.

1) Doesn't look low (well look slightly lower than w/o body kit) looks sportier.
2) No, not really.
3) no, not much different than w/o

Suggest you be careful of curb heights and those concret block thing when parking.

pics in PM.

as you can see still good clearance.

Thanks for the replies guys!

When I get the OEM kit, I'm not planning on getting lowering springs.

Does anyone know how many inches the clearance is if you have an OEM Body Kit but stock springs?

I probably should have worded my questions a little better because I'm especially interested in responses from people with the OEM kit but without lowering springs.

For those people, do you feel the need to drive the car similar to how a lowered car is driven?

I have the OEM body kit, and at times it seems its a little too high off the ground. I would like to lower my tsx, but am holding off due to problems with wheels cambering and worrying about scraping. Another option is to purchase the A-spec suspension kit. Lowers your car about an inch and dont need a camber kit....

i think its the doors that make the car still look high regardless of drop
if the door height was shorter it won't be so bad

Lowering the car to the point of not being able to drive in a normal manner is silly anyway.

I have had my OEM kit now for 26XXX miles and have never scraped curbs, or parking blocks. My car is not lowered.

The very front of the front skirt is a bit raised, if you take a close look, to help prevent scraping. I'm always careful to park farther away from a curb when the car is facing a curb, but once or twice I parked over it and the front skirt still had clearance. Same goes for the rear.

The car doesn't really look lowered, but it does look like it's more "wrapped around the wheels" if you know what I mean.

I agree though, it looks 10x better than without the body kit so I say GO FOR IT!

I have never scraped with the body kit. I have also drove up VERY steep hills and have never had a problem.

Great guys!! Thanks for the replies!!

I'm gonna get a body kit for sure now. I'm going to try to wait until late january though...after most of the winter.

We'll see how long I can last!! I might just end up getting it really soon!

What material was that body kit made out of?
What it Fiberglass? I heard Fiberglass can shatter.
