Question Octane

In the midwest we have premium 93, plus 89 and regular 87.
Does anyone know if these different grades of gas was prep at the refinery or addictives later added at the gas station?
Maybe I'm retarded for asking this but I usually noticed the truck only replenishs the reservoir with one outlet. Now does the truck come loaded with a different grade each time or could there be 3 different compartments in the tank?

The truck has different compartments. I don't think diesel is carried by the same truck. I have seen gas deliveries and the truck will have 3 different pumps going into 3 different tanks at the station.

Refineries make two grades, premium and low end. The others are blends of the two.

Shell and Mobil may come from the same refinery where oil is refined to government specs but as the truck leaves their special formulas are added.

Basically, run the lowest octane your car was built for. Running lower than that can cause engine damage. I think TSX is 91 but some places go from 89 to 93.

There is an argument that you should not use the same brand of gasoline for an extended period of time. Those who subscribe to this usually say use one brand for 5,000 miles then switch to another major brand for 5,000 etc. because deposits caused by the different brand additives build up.

Are you saying one should stick with the same brand or no?
What was stated above does not make sense.
Why would you want deposits to build up otherwise?
I have been using Shell 93 in all my vehicles for over 10 years with no problems.
And I do apply fuel injector cleaner every 3 months and fuel system cleaner every year.

Sorry, I couldn't help but say it: addictives is not the same as additives.

The people who subscribe to that theory say don't use the same gas forever, change brands every 5,000 miles because they use different additives and using the same gas for a longer period would cause a build up of that particular additive residue whereas switching brands would eliminate it. The scientific argument is longer, complicated and sounds in theory to be practical.

There also is a theory that if you use low octane to put a tank full of high octane in there every fifth fill up or so.
