Obd II scanner for tsx?

I know some of you guys have these... what kind of scanner do you need and where can you find them? What's the general price? It would be fun to have one.

Go check out your local O'Reilly auto parts store. I got mine there for about $150. They stock them up pretty regularly. You can also go get one from your local Honda/Acura dealer for one of the one's they'd equip if you want to order one of those. They can give you the contact information for the ones they use...they're about 2 grand.

I bought one on eBay and it works great except that one week after I got it I saw it on sale at Canadian Tire (kinda like Pep Boys but shittier) for $40 less than I paid.

It was $160 and I paid $120 US on eBay for the same unit. Once you factor in shipping, exchange rate, duty fees, and tax it was probably $40 or $50 cheaper at Crappy Tire.

I just checked and the guy I bought from on eBay still has one available: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2463941315

It's a good unit but check your local retailers first.

Is this a viable alternative?

http://www.auterraweb.com/

Kind of pricey, and you need a handheld.

That's pretty cool domn! If it works I'd get one for my iQue. I'm questionable about the accuracy of the dyno numbers though....

I'd like to hear if anyone has tried this.

The Canadian Tire unit works great. Just for the manuals that come with the unit (one in spanish, one in english and one in francais) it's a bargain. It explains in detail how the system was designed and how it works. I used it on my Focus and it saved me substatntial dollars: was able to find out exactly what sensors had gone bad and turned out Ford had a secret warranty on it. Saved me about $200.

Only problem is, I havent used it on my EL; Check Engine light has never com on (7 years old) and no codes were recorded. Thank god I got the Focus to play with the scanner

That's probably the best reason for owning a Focus....

It's $275 buying direct but you can get it for $179 buy-it-now on ebay.
