Not impressed by the all season mats

I've had the Acura all season mats for a week or two now. I do admit they are much sturdier and easier to clean. However, I like the look of the original mats much better. I also think the original mats don't show dirt as cleary as the all seasons (at least in my quartz interior). Every little fleck of dirt seems to show up on the black rubber of the all seasons mats, and dirt just seems to cling to them.

I also was not impressed. First of all my car smelled like I was driving around with new tires inside from the strong rubber smell for several days. I had Husky liners in my Tacoma before this and they looked better IMO.

Why would you guys in LA need all season mats? Those rubber mats are more for places that get snow and slush. If I were you I would just use the summer mats all year round.

I got them because of my "active lifestyle." I do a lot of camping and hiking, and I thought they'd handle dirt and mud better. But, I think the mats were not the smartest purchase. I'm going to go back to the summer mats, and I'll put in the winter mats whenever I'm going to go camping or something.

I don't take the TSX off roading. But, I do use it to drive to campsites when I go car camping.

With alot of rain now in New Jersey, my carpet is clean from mud thank to my all weather floormat. I think it's alot easier to clean mud off rubber floormats than carpet floormats.

You know all that dirt that the all season mat is showing? That's dirt that would otherwise be clumping in your normal mats. It's doing its job, really. And it's much easier to clean. I don't even bother to clean mine, cause I don't have to worry about particles permanently sticking in the rubber like they might in the carpeting...

Does LA have a rainy season at all?

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, which isn't as arid as LA, but it's fair to call it semi-arid with cool foggy summers. We do get rain now and then and things get muddy.

Anyway, wouldn't the rubbery floor mats be useful when its wet outside?

From photos, others' reviews and looking at them at dealerships I wasn't impressed with the mats. I plan on getting a set from http://weathertech.com/ , which look to trap the dirt much better than the OEM set. Although, I'm not sure what to tell you about them showing every speck. My ebony interior shows everything, so I imagine any black mat will do the same.

If you don't mind spending the ~86, I believe the weathertech mats come in quartz.

((and not that we need winter mats for slow/slush here in FL, but it can get muddy with all the rain))

Devo - you are probably right. Buying the mats didn't make that much sense for me.

As far as the weathertech are concerned, that would probably have been better. I could have gotten them in gray, which would have shown less and still matched the interior.

I think I am going to put the factory mats back in place, and use the rubber mats only on those weekends that I go camping.

LA does get about a month of rain in the summer, and I'll probably use the mats during that period as well.

But, it wasn't the best investment of $90, that is for sure.

While we don't get any snow or slush here in LA (Louisiana, not Los Angeles) it is a very rural state and the possibility of driving down a dirt road is fairly high. Plus if I decide to sell this car in a few years I want to have it look as new as possible and that includes the floormats.

I love my floormats. I hose them off when I wash the car, and the dirt is gone. Better than the dirt going into the carpeted mat. When Winter comes, I won't have to worry about salt stains and the other crap that comes with the nasty weather. Bring it on.

Maybe put yours up for sale here then go get weathertech. I'm sure someone would buy some slightly used mats if there isn't already a GB going.

i wanted to get all season floor mats for my car, but i ended up deciding not to get them. I have a parchment interior and the floor mats are black. The colors just don't match. I was wondering if anyone has tried "scotch guarding" their mud guards?????

I bet the tan ones from weathertech would match. (yeah, I know.. I'm a WT spammer. )

((edit:: I guess the main consideration is how it fits with the gas pedal.. Not sure but I'll be your test case..))

Do you know if WeatherTech floormats fit well for TSX? I'm considering it for preparation for coming winter months...
Per your suggestion, I am considering Tan floormats from WeatherTech to match the Parchment interior. Thanks for your feedback in advance.

BTW, Darth62, thanks for your feedback on other forum...

You might do a search here on the weathtech mats. Somebody order them and found that only the front pass mat fit without cutting. The other mats had to be cut, although the weathertech mats are already perforated to facilitate the cuts.

I also had a hard time deciding to buy them because I also have parchmint interior & they came only in black. I got them anyways and now I like them a lot. I think they look good with all the lalck that we have on the console & dash. Several people hast told me the car looks really sharp when they get in the car.
The only problem is to put them on or off, those pins that hold the mats are a pain
Otherwise I like them a lot

The link that darth posted pretty much sums it up. If you don't mind cutting the mats with a utility knife (really easy since they're rubber with perforated line guides) then go for it.

Thanks!

Thanks for your feedbacks! (idx, darth62...)

I think I will go ahead with Weathertech's tan color mats and make some fitting adjustments as needed... I have to protect my baby from getting snow and mud!

Thumbs up Weathertech Opinion

Just a quick update for those who are considering WeatherTech floormat for your TSX.

It may have been extra $$ as compared to local All-Mart brand, but it definitely was a good choice for me. I've had it since few weeks into getting my TSX and it works and looks great. Tan floormat color matches my parchment interior well.

The original, almost unused, TSX floormat waits in a box in case I decide to upgrade my car

Paid: $92 total incl. shipping

I don't like the looks of the all season mats, so I'll just stick with the regular ones and try to take care of them. I'm the kind of person who falls in love w/a car and keeps it for 10+ years. By the time my last car needed new mats, I couldn't get the original custom ones anymore. Argh! This time around, I'm buying a second set just to store so that when the originals start looking bad, I'll have a fresh set. Is that weird? Don't care.

Car camping

I agree with Evelion. I really like the original mats. When it gets dirty, I vacuum and/or spot clean it with some water and mild soap. When it gets real dirty, I'll be buying new (original) sets.
