No more TSX for me
It is with great sadness that I announce that I am no longer a TSX owner. I finally decided that the TSX is too small for our family. We traded my wife's '06 in for an '08 Accord. Then I sold my '04 TSX and picked up a small super-high mileage commuter car (yes, it's a Civic, bleah). My teen-age sons love the extra room in her car and I have a car that is paid for. It's AMAZING how much larger the rear seats are between the Euro Accord (TSX) and the American Accord.
The Accord is a nice car, but it's no TSX. I hope that once the boys are out of the house and back in school I can come back to Acura. Maybe by then the 3rd-gen TSX will be out or I can pick up a slightly used diesel TSX.
I hope to continue to look through this web site. This is a great community and you all helped me with a lot of issues with my '04. Throwout bearing, creaking clutch, etc... I got them all. I miss my car. The TSX is a great vehicle.

The Accord does have a ridiculous amount of room in it. I'm 6'1 and can stretch out, slouch and almost lay down in the back of an Accord.
But a man does have to prioritize. We won't hold it against you for selling your TSX, not like you strayed too far. I don't think you could of kept it any closer to the family.

How many miles did you put on your 04 before selling it? And how do you like the Civic and the New Accord compare to the TSX? Which model Accord LX-P/EX/EX-P? I4 or 6?

it's a car-drive it
my mom recently bought a 08 mystic green honda accord v-6 (with my help). I have driven it and must say I like my 06 tsx more. It is an excellent car, good for my mom. It does not have memory seats, trip computer or MT in the 4-door. If she bought the 4 she would do without power passenger seats, no foglights, etc. the warranty is shorter on the accord but that is ok as my mom averages about 7,500 miles a year. I average 30,000 miles.
Good luck and safe driving.

You'll definitely enjoy the 08 accord. Definitely a larger car.
In fact, my mom went from an 06 mercedes benz c230 to an 08 accord and likes her accord better than the benz (minus the 'status' fact i suppose)

i used to drive a 99 Accord sedan and the rear seat in that Accord was bigger than the Euro Accord/TSX. if the 08 Accord sedan has the same rear seat room as an 04 MDX that is a lot of room.
i compare the rear seat room of the 04-08 TSX/Euro Accord to the 94-97 US Accord sedan. they're about the same.

Fully understand the move; glad to hear from someone who actually drives what he needs (as opposed to 90% of the battle wagons I see cruising down the interstate with one driver (often female) behind the wheel). Not surprised at your discovery of the Accord's roominess either; it is after all bigger than the RL.

Make a hole, coming thru!
You made some pretty sound decisions there ... staying with a brand you know and love, saving some money (I hope ... that Accord might not beat the TSX in MPG), pleasing the important people in your life ... good goin', man.
Simba, you crack me up. I know, I get rather hostile when I see SUVs and minivans and particularly luxury or sport SUVs with just one occupant, chatting away on the sell phone, ignoring other drivers and being inconsiderate. Grrrr....

I'll try to answer the questions.
The Civic is a big step down from the TSX. No question about it. I miss the quiet (hard to believe I'm saying that) of the Acura. But when I see that gas gage moving ever so slowly and then filling up with only $30 of gas, the prestige and extra noise seems less important. One side note on Civics: When we took our Accord back to the dealer for some extras we got a new Civic as a loaner. Holy cow - that car sucks. Hope I don't offend any current-gen Civic owners, but that dashboard is a cruel joke and the steering wheel is as ugly as sin. It is noisy, the dashboard is HUGE, and it feels cheap everywhere. I'm sure our loaner was the lowest-end model but wow.
We got an Accord EX-L with the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine. It's dark blue with the gray leather interior. We got the 4 banger because of the higher MPG and lower cost.
The Accord is my wife's car and it's about as large a vehicle as she wants to drive. Unlike so many of those other moms you see on the road she likes her cars sporty and hates SUV's (I love my wife). Her dream car is a restored MG or a Z4. Sorry guys, she is already taken.
It is truly amazing how MUCH room there is in the back and front of an Accord. It is a large car and works for our current family very well.
Things we miss:
1. The HomeLink button. Hard to imagine this annoys me as much as it does. We had to get the loaded V-6 to get the HomeLink in the Accord. Now we have that ugly garage door opener attached to our sun visor.
2. The sportiness of the TSX. My wife loved the tight suspension and cornering of the TSX. The Accord is not bad, but it's no TSX. The steering is lighter and less responsive (more motion to turn the same corner). The TSX sounded better too.
3. The dealer. No doubt about it, a Honda dealer is not an Acura dealer, at least in Lynnwood, WA. The Honda dealership and people are nice, they just don't have a lot of the little extras that come with an Acura. Most of the time it won't matter, but the whole place has a different look and feel. A real test will come when the car need maintenance. The Acura dealer was very good at working with our schedule, finding a loaner car, etc... I don't think we can expect that from Honda.
My '04 had about 84K miles on it. I purchased it used and put about 28,000 miles on it myself. It wasn't a perfect car, but I do miss it (sniff).

What year is the Civic you bought? I loved the 2001-2005 generation but I hate the 2006+. Yeah, the only thing I miss about my old Civic is filling up at $35. It's $50 in the TSX and it lasts about the same amount of time, a week, during normal driving.
I agree with LuvMyTSX, it would be hard to go back at this point and I've only had my TSX for exactly 2 weeks today.

Clearly Roundy67 is looking for a Pity Party.
Your wife has good taste. I had a 77 or 78 MGB for a year, my first car <3, loved it, hated how it emptied my bank account.
I hear the Civic Si is pretty hot ... so Civics aren't all bad. I remember that initial 2-door, CRX? 1984? Nice. Cheap interior, but Spartan in an elegant way. The RSX reminded me of that, too bad I didn't want Spartan at this time in my life. (You can tell I'm thinking in the same ways you do.)

I shopped Civics when I was on the market in '06, I didn't buy one because of that steering wheel. In the end, I'm glad I went with the TSX anyway, it's much nicer and it fits me better.
Glad you stayed in the family (Honda). Did you look at the Fit? It's a fun little car, and doesn't have an ugly dash. I'm hoping I can talk my wife into trading her Jetta wagon in for a 2nd gen Fit this fall.

I'm the proud owner of a 1992 Civic. It's actually a car that's been in the family for a long time. I'm eyeing my bro-in-laws 1996 Integra. It's got a ton of miles but it is also a car with a known history as my dad purchased it new way back when. He is looking to upgrade soon and it would be a huge upgrade from the Civic. Maybe the Civic would be a good birthday present for my soon-to-be-driving son.
I looked at the Fit when it first arrived last year. Seems like a nice little ride. My aunt and her husband got one, but I have not seen it yet as they live in a few states away.
I got a horrible trade-in on my '04 due to the mileage. I did OK on the '06. The Honda dealer sold it the next day! Some lucky person got an awfully well-cared-for '06 TSX auto. My '04 was a nice little car but was showing the miles a bit (worn-in seats, some interior plastic wear, the rims had hit a curb or two, that darn throwout bearing noise...).
