Newbie here with Questions!
hello all,
I purchased my tsx last august and am having a problem. I took it to the dealer at 5k miles for an oil change. since then, there has been a loss of acceleration (the "punch" isn't as strong) and when I start the car there is a funny gassy smell.
could this be due to the type of oil that was used? i prefer to use synthetic oil and was wondering if its cool to use synthetic oil, i read somewhere that using synthetic oil could cause some type of glogging somewhere.
so what do you guys think could be causing the loss of acceleration/punch and the funky smell? thanks!

What was your typical drive like?
If low mile/short journeys, plenty of cold starts, then you might need an oil flush to remove any build up of varnish.
Equally, the valves could be caked with deposits.
If you are smelling gas, then it suggests blow-by, which isn't good long term as the cat can get damaged.
Synth oil is perfectly fine - maybe they used 10w-40 instead of 0w-30/40 but I'm not sure if the difference could be easily felt other than at start-up.
Hopefully some of the more knowledgeable guys will confirm this or give you a better idea as to what may be the problem.
