Question New wheels and tires??

I'm thinking of doing new wheels and tires for my 04 TSX. I'm pretty set on HP Racing Lightning SS wheels in Hyper Silver but I can't decide if I want to do 18x8 or 19x8.5. Which would be better performance-wise and would there be any rub involved if I did either one???

you should be ok with either choice if you keep the offset in the 40's

No suspension mods or any mods to be honest. Everything is stock. I was just looking for something that would give the car a little extra without going into great detail with suspension mods.

Yeah I've been looking and reading about those. Everyone seems to really like them. Thanks for the info.

I beg to differ.

There's no way you're getting a 19x8.5 on without air runner suspension.

18x8 will need an offset of +45 or higher if you're dropping the car.
+42 is possible, but not with a tires slightly tucking.

I'm not dropping the car at all or doing anything to the suspension...I just don't want to. I'm still trying to decide if I go 18x8 with 225/40-18 tires or 19x8.5 with 235/35-19 tires. And the HP wheels I want come in high offsets (+42 to +55). Everything that I have read (including the wheel & tire calculator) tells me that either one of these should work.

I'm still researching tires though. I can't decide if I want an all-season or a summer tire. I'm leaning towards UHP summer. Any suggestions on tires????

If it's all for looks, just keep in mind that your wheel gap will be emphasized because of the lower profile tires you'll have to run on 18s or 19s... I'm not trying to make a judgement on whether that's good or bad --- just want to point it out.

Also, note that "performance wise", you'll see a drop-off in performance (no matter which size you run) compared to the stock setup. You may get better traction from the wider rubber, but you'll see a little slow down in acceleration due to the distribution of weight further away from the center of wheel.

The HP Lightnings are already a somewhat heavy wheel, and I don't believe they're available in an offset greater than +38... at least that was what I remember from a few years back. Just make sure you look out for all of these things... MMs has the "workable" specs right in his post...
