New TSX Owner - Is It Me, Or?
Over the holidays I was fortunate enough to pick up a 2004 TSX w/ navigation for $13,200 cash. The car is in flawless shape, it just has extremely high miles on it(73,000). Most of them highway, of course.
I love the vehicle, but am wondering if the following scenario is normal for the TSX. My TSX seems to give me a lot of feedback from the road via the steering wheel. It drives straight, but when there is an inconsitency with the leveling in the road, it seems to really let me know through the steering wheel.
I don't think that the alignment is off, as the vehicle can ride straight provided the road is straight. If the road leans to one side a little bit, it seems the TSX tugs to that side.. visa versa.
Having driven an SUV for the past 6 years, maybe I just forgot how a sport suspension rides?
I should also note, these are not the original tires - they are Yokohama AVID VS4's and have most of their tread.
Is this typical riding behavior for the TSX?

Normal behavior....the TSX seems to pull a little when the road is crowned. Obviously, if it seems way off all the time, then by all means bring it in to get checked.
By the way...wow, great deal at $13.2k!

I just got back from Tahoe driving a Chevy Suburban for six days. I felt WEIRD getting back into my TSX. The steering is very different from an SUV vs. the TSX and what you speak of I definitely experienced switching back to my TSX.
Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club.

$13,200??? this is so hard to believe even with 73k mileage. I am guess it was sold by your close relative as a present or the car was in some accident and now has a salvaged title.
and yes, TSX steering is very sensitive. I took my brand new TSX to the dealer 2 times already to check the allignment and they didn't find anything wrong

Yeah, I was gonna say, you got great tires on the car too, nice throw in!
Double check your tire's air pressure, and get your alignment checked anyway. Lots of places will check for free (then try to sell you services). As with any used car, if you haven't already, have a mechanic you trust do a full work-over!
That's just a killer deal. Absolutely the cheapest I've heard of ANY tsx being sold for. Either there is something wrong hiding somewhere or you just got a present.

I feel great after reading those comments. I figured I was getting a deal, considering Blue Book, that's why I jumped on it.
The car is clean titled. I originally had my doubts, too. The seller (non-relative) just used the car as a commute car and no longer worked the distance they used to work and were bound to get another car. *shrugs*
The listing was found via cars.com
Aside from the small road debre dings in the front bumper typical of a car with this type of mileage, I haven't found one flaw with the vehicle's condition.
Just had to pick up a v3.60 Navi disc from Ebay, and now it's golden.

Did you check that it wasn't accidented? That seems like a great deal!
The TSX is a bit nervous when the road isn't perfectly flat, but I was hoping that the Avids you have on would have quelled that behaviour... the OEM tires are notorious for tramlining, but my winters have made the car slightly less twitchy...
welcome to the club and congrats!

I also noticed that. The steering is extremely sensitive, it will pull to the direction of the slighest slant.
I am very pleased with that. I love that accurate, precision feeling....

Most of the honda i have owned do that. Yesterday i test drove my friend's new civic, and it behaved like that. Honda seems very sensitve on crowned roads, where as other manufactgures arent. At least the Nissan Z, Suzuki swift and corrola arent like that.

I used to drive a 1997 Civic Si (EX in the US), and wasn't quite as sensitive. then again, it didn't have the same great handling as the TSX. My mother in law drives a Corolla, and it is not as sensitive, but then again is very dull from a handling standpoint!
With the TSX, you're never left wondering what's going on with the tires. You feel exactly what's going on!

Sometimes it feels as if the wheels surf the groves in the road. Depending on the road, it can be quite noticeable via the steering wheel. In the past I have owned a 95 Corvette and I don't remember the steering even being as tight /sensitive as the TSX. I often wonder if were noticeable to an on-looker? For example, someone behind me capable of actually seeing the back end of the vehicle ever-so-slightly weave? I have never noticed such movement when I'm behind / following someone on a similar road, so sometimes I do wonder if it is just all in the steering wheel / cabin...
