New Acura TLX: Finally unveiled
Just released photos at the Detroit autoshow, showing the prototype of the new TLX, (intended to replace both the TSX and TL.)

At first I did not see how one car could capably replace both the TSX and TL... and that the superior handling dynamics of a mid-size but relatively lightweight car (TSX) would be left in the dust. (Not something most of us here feel has been carried on in the Civic-based ILX.)
But this car is smaller than the outgoing TL and apparently will offer two engine options: A direct injection 2.4 liter four, (a more powerful descendant of the K24 in our TSX's), or a 3.5 liter V6. Each engine will have its own 8 or 9-speed transmission. The V6 model offers a SH-AWD option.
Acura prototypes are typically very close to production designs...and personally, I think the car looks terrific. I love the flow of the lines, the athletic rear, and the extension of the chrome window trim into the LED lighting on the mirrors. It has good proportions for a FWD based car and nice details. It's the first Acura since the 1G TSX that makes me think: "I want that."

I wish they would get their act together and restyle the front grill, but this definitely looks like a winner. I hope they publish the power numbers and the weight soon.

We've had several threads here over the last year or two regarding the TSX being discontinued/replaced by the TLX...so it seemed relevant, especially for many of us who never explore Acurazine outside of this particular forum.
