Navigation Hard Drive

Does the navigation system have a hard drive? and if it does, can it and does it record where and when your car goes places?....does it keep a driving log? can it and does it do anything???

If the police got a hold of your navigation system could they find out where it had been?

Just don't use the "Route to Crack House" feature and you'll be fine.

There's no harddrive.

I'd pour hot water on the navi unit in the trunk for good measure.....just in case the police decide to make a visit. I'd also keep the car backed into your garage with the door shut because the unit has an satellite transponder that transmits your VIN and highest speed to Acura Warranty Services.....

I have no idea how the system stores the information when you use the "bread crumb" feature, but since it's only a series of 'dots' I don't see how it could be of any use to anyone.

Although the nav system is DVD-based, there must be some flash memory component (or something similar). There is a bread-crumbs feature that seems to store data for at least a few weeks (thats how long I have had my TSX). So yes, the police probably could find out some of the places you have been.

dont worry they wount find out where you dumped the body...
if it recorded your rout it has to tell you that because it is invasion of privacy and if it did record it why wouldnt they add that as a feature for the navi to record a trip you did so you can have it for next time

Well... the bread crumbs will say where you've been but not when. So i wouldn't worry about that. What i would worry about is when you enter in a destination you can go back into the "menu" and hit "previous destinations". Then it'll show exactly where you've been. But i think you can restore the defaults and clear those. But you might loose all of your settings though.

Sure, the nav system is a two-way communication device. It works by uploading your position to the satellites. This is for theft-deterrent purposes. Acura keeps a database which includes the full route you have driven since the day you bought the car, and the instantaneous speed at any point (this can be used as evidence against you when prosecuting you for a speeding ticket.) There is a secret website on acura.com where you can access this information. All you need is the VIN.

Sorry, like I said this is a *secret* website. Also be aware that whenever you add phone numbers to the address book on the 2006 TSX, these phone lines are automatically associated with your social security number by the Echelon system. If there is any terrorist activity detected on the phone line of one of your contacts, the NSA will track your car from orbit, disable the ignition remotely, and dispatch FBI agents to apprehend you for questioning.

Cover your car in tin-foil. It's kept the voices out of my head now for years... I'm sure it will keep the Feds out of your trunk, too.
