1. Honda's marketing scheme was to make consumers pay more for the better styled Acura TL and TSX. I mean the last gen Accord and TL looked about the same in style.
2. Honda wanted the Accord to have a more bubbled look like the Altima has. But, oddly enough I think the new Camry looks nicer than the old one.
3. Honda wanted a more family look with the Accord sedan?

I'm not sure any of those sound right. It was just some Bangle like designer that went a little too far - and everyone at Am Honda bought it. Just like the sheep buying the new 5 series, the typical Accord buyer does not consider styling much when making the purchase.

I honestly think they just got it wrong. Not sure how as I would think most companies use focus groups prior to product release but they probly just misjudged what the public wanted.
Another factor is how the car is perceived in Japan. Does anyone know how the Japanese feel about the cars styling?

I think Honda made the right move selling the US Accord as such...would you have paid good money for that piece of shit to be the current CL/ Inspire.....Not me, I am satisfied with Hondas move...smart choice if you ask me.......The TSX could have been sold as the US Accord or TSX and would have made good either way...great styling if you ask me...Only difference is, if Honda did use the TSX as the Accord, would they have made a V-6 for it.......

Big Block go VROOOM!
So am I the only one that thinks only half the car is ugly? The front isn't anything to write home about, but I certainly don't find it unattractive. The back half, however, BLECH!

btw, how much more rear space does the ugly accord sedan have compared to the TSX?

I think the best way to put it is that the Accord's rear space is more comfortable, but hardly anything to make the TSX feel tiny by comparison.

I've sat in both and I (6'2") can fit easily in the accord, plenty of leg room while in the TSX I was a little cramp. But compared to the TL, I had more room in the TSX then in the TL which didn't make any sense.

im sorry boys, but the TSX needs more power. after having my accord v-6 for a week now, im in love!
same navi, same interior, same 6 speed tranny.....
BUT, alot more horsy's!!
as far as the look of the accord, the sedan looks like shit! thats why the REAL ACCORD is here, just under an acura badge (tsx).
however, what honda has that acura doesent have, right now, is a powerfull coupe. dont get me wrong, the type-s rsx is fast, but its no v-6 coupe accord! and, the styling of the coupe is dope! IMO.
what acura needs to do is make a car that can compete with the g-35, both luxury & performance! the rsx doesnt cut.
time to re-introduce the CL!!!

I can get over the styling of the new Accord, but it takes a while, though I like the look of the coupe more than the sedan. I really like the EX-V6 6 speed as 21 said.

Don't compare the TSX with the G35, the competitor for the G35 is the new TL. They should make the TL in a coupe like the G35 or bring back the CL. The CL always looked hot, not sure why they got rid of it.
Also Mitsubishi owns, although there nicest car is the Evo and the new EVOMR coming this fall
. the rest are blah!

I don't think the Accord is bigger because Americans are fatter. I would reason the larger Accord due to north America's need for larger vehicles, just for the sake of the extra room! We just want more of everything!

I don't know, I was sort of kidding but I know that a lot of Americans that buy American cars because they can fit in them (so they think, I always get comments on how roomy my hybrid is and it's not a big car. while i've been in many American cars where they look huge but then i get in them and I'm like where is all the space?). The extra size addresses those people to some degree. I don't buy the arguement that we just like bigger vehicles, although the H2 sort of blows that theory away.

i still don't like the accord sedan and never will. walked past a black accord sedan today in the parking lot, it really showed the lines of the rearend, which is unproportional and makes it look more deformed.

The new accord, above, could easily pass for a new Buick Century. Honda will continue with very conservative degins until sales start suffering. The new Mazda3 will, I believe, provote a much nicer style to the new Civic. I also think Honda realizes that they need style to match the Accord's excellent mechanicals. Overall, the car is still a great value. Holds resale better than a 7-series...hold that...that might not be a good comparison.
