My neighbor beat me to it
Just a few weeks before I'm gonna get my TSX, my nextdoor neighbor beat me to it. But guess what, she is 80 years old!
Well, what can I say, one cool old lady in my neighborhood

I haven't had anyone come up to me and ask about my car in months, but 2 weeks ago I did when going to the orchestra. A ~65 year old woman started asking me about my car, how much I liked it, and if it was good in the snow when we both pulled up to the garage valet.
I forgot that I wanted to relay that one

Don't know quite how to convey this without sounding like an aging asshole crumudgeon, but I'm not sure why it should be surprising that a 80-year old woman would like a sporty fun-to-handle car to run around in. I think the thread is great, and I think it's cool too to celebrate the fact that an 80-year old can enjoy a sweet car, and gotta hand it to her, but I'm not surprised by her choice. Probably drove some sedate bucket of bolts all of her life and wants to have fun for a change - or, she has a history like my wife, and used to stock race at the Atco speedway in Jersey. (Never can tell).
I've had a number of folks ask me about my car, both in my old neighborhood, my new residence, at work, and at the carwash - the age mix is broad, ranging from guys who "fit the demographics" of the car, to folks substantially older than me. Universally, it seems to be the styling that piques their interest (looks like a BMW only a hellova lot cleaner visually - is a comment that one guy made as he waited for his C-Class to be waxed), but the conversation inevitably focuses on Acura's rep for durability. Younger folks know this is a new model line from Acura, older ones just know that it is stylish, compact and understated.
as for the handicapped-adaptive devices for paraplegics - handicapped accessible cars are no longer uniquely designed to address the needs of the aging; that myth crashed with Vietnam and the returning vets who, by virtue of their drive and focus, have been a major factor in the handicapped community. Of the folks on the brain injury unit where my wife rehabbed about a year ago, there were at least five guys under 40 who had sustained traumatic brain injuries (motorcycle, hit/run vehicular and multicar accidents without belts tended to be the themes.......), and whose deficits would inevitably result in their returning to specifically equipped vehicles. My wife will return to a car that will have to be an automatic and may need a turning knob on the wheel to facilitate careful onehanded steering to allow her to adapt while still sustaining some lingering mild hemiplegia as she recovers from a massive ruptured brain aneurysm. Doesn't in any way reduce her interest in driving fast/clean and enjoying cars that handle well. Given her predilections, her next car will probably be a hybred with a steering wheel adjustment and a ski rack. (but then, her model is her late father, who continued to ski black-diamond slopes at Jackson Hole after his hip replacement surgery and quad bybass surgery at the age of 74................)
Age, physical competency and a willingness to have fun and enjoy life are not direclty correlated, and it is not axiomatic that one looses one's enjoyment of fast cars, fast women and fast slopes as you get older. It may just make you savor it more.................at least for some of us. As I said at the outset of this lengthy post, I hope to not sound like some aging windbag, but - as I get older, it simply heightens the focus of the pleasures I take in life. A fun car is, modestly, one of them.

(now who's the asshole?)
I concur with ric's comments. I felt the need to mention my little anecdote mainly due to the obsession about the TSX's "appropriate" age group (vs. the TL's, of course) and the fascination with whether men who drive TSXs are emasculated by the apparent high proportion of women drivers.

imo, TSX is perfect for these folks. Have seen quite a few 50+ women owners.
TSX - a well-done Accord that just happens to be a bad-ass in sportiness.

and I didn't think your commentary was offensive, I just continue to wonder why folks are amazed at the ability of people who live "on the dark side" to wish to enjoy a badass car..............
Ric, who is a cru ...cur...... testy old man..........
