My Honda, Err..I mean Acura
OK, so I know I bought a Euro Accord when I got a TSX here in Good Ol' USA, but why does my Acura have to say HONDA all over it?
Every piece of glass on the thing has a HONDA sticker on it. I just noticed this after three months of ownership!
Don't get me wrong, I really liked both of my previous Hondas, I just thought Acura could "pony up" for a couple of new decals for the glass. Does a Lexus say Toyota on the glass? Infinity, Nissan?
Does this bother anyone else, or should I just double my dose of Ritalin?

We just went over this recently stogie. Lexus has toyota all over the windows, infiniti has nissan all over too. They're not going to make special, seperate windows for the Acura models, it just doesn't make sense.

Cause you drive a Honda.

Exactly. Honda is the parent company like Toyota is to Lexus and Nissan to Infiniti.
Chrysler doesn't have MB decals/etching cause they're different companies. It's just a merger. They may share chassis and engines but they have their own glass maker

I gotta say it kinda irks me as well though... I mean I know its stupid but is it really a big deal to put "Acura" on the window instead of Honda. I mean, I would understand if they were only producing a few, the cost of the change in robotics would be to great. But you figure they are producing tens of hundreds of thousands of windows for Acura alone. You would think it wouldnt be a huge deal. Especially considering I'm sure there are slight differences in the Honda windows and the Acura windows hence they are making a change to the machinery anyway.
Not a big deal to me but I'm just saying I understand where stogie is coming from

Honda is prominent not only on the windshield glass but also in the Acura logo.
Some say the logo represents a caliper or another precise tool...
Look again - the open-top stylized letter "A" in the Acura logo is simply and very obviously an "H" shown with a skewed perspective.

My loaner RL had "ACURA" on the windows, but one was inverted, like mentioned above. Also, it clearly said "HONDA" on the headlight, and had the Honda emblem on the gas cap.
Loosen up! Acura doesn't even exist outside of North America... so congratulations everyone, we all drive Hondas.
(and that's a damn good thing, IMO!)

Thanks TSX.Fury for understanding. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a big deal for me, but i just wonder exactly how hard it would have been to make different stickers and put them on the glass for Acura cars.
And yes, I realize that Acura is a subsidiary (of sorts) of Honda. My financing isn't through Acura, it's through Honda, but if a company is going to make a higher end car, they should not incorporate Honda elements (no pun intended) into the exterior appearance.
By the way, my Honda stickers on the windows are Scratch-and-Sniff. They smell like glass.

Not only did I have it for a loaner when my 02 TL-P went in for warranty work, I had it for TWO WEEKS.
And a rock flew up and cracked the windshield while I had it, but Acura footed the bill.

This is the loaner RL I had
It was very nice! I'm also under 25. My service advisor said "We've got a TSX for you, is that okay?" and I said "Do you have a car like mine, just an 02 TL? I'm not too comfortable in a TSX." and she said "No, but I have an RL, I'll give you that."
And so the story goes. I enjoyed the RL... put 2000 miles on it, partly because I live a long way away from the dealer and because I drive a lot. My best friend was in town that weekend and we drove the RL all over the place.
Sorry.

Actually, current lexus cars say lexus on the windows. But most of the hidden stuff not clearly visible still say toyota (ex: inside the engine bay for various parts) . Infiniti cars dont say nissan on the windows either. It doesnt say anything. But there are still parts labeled nissan that arent clearly seen.

I will say that Toyota and Nissan do a really good job of giving their luxury divisions their own identity. They've done that since day one and are now getting more anal about it, especially Lexus. It doesn't bother me what the glass says, but it would be nice if my CL said Acura instead of Honda, but what can ya do?

My neighbor has a 04 IS300 with "Lexus" on all of its windows. And my colleague's LX470 has "Lexus" over its windows.

My family used to have a 98 Nissan Quest.....it had FORD stuff all over it (since it was co-developed with Ford as the Mercury Villager).
I have an EL, and have no qualms about having Honda all over the car. I agree with the sentiment that the Acura nameplate doesn't EXIST outside of North America. So, if that's the case, why waste *any* money making special "Acura" parts? Especially since the parts on Acura cars are used on Honda's across the globe.
Think of it this way: If you have 2 cars that use even a few of the same parts, and the only thing differentiating them is the name stamped on the part, why the heck would you waste money setting up a system that stamps a different name on some of the parts that roll off the line? I'd like to think that Honda takes the money (whatever little it may be) and keeps it in the company to give us killer products like the TSX.

It would probably be smart for them to not have Honda names on visible parts, at least on the more expensive TL, RL and MDX. Cause some people are uptight about things like that.
