Hello everyone,
i have been stuck in a dilemma and dont know what to do. I have an 05, 6sdp, carbon grey tsx with navi and 77,000kms. I have an opportunity to trade in my vehicle, and get an 05' Infiniti g35 coupe, with 33,000kms, white in color, 19inch rims (which i wanted) and spolier (which i also wanted) This car was basically the car that i originally wanted but! Its an automatic and there is no navi! but i will be saving $2000 on my overall finance total...
Now my question to the members of the tsx and acura community, hoping and knowing that they love their cars as much as i do, is...
Do you think i should trade my car?

Just make sure you understand the trade offs. People have different needs and if impracticallity is one then the g35 is not for u. 2 seater with no room in the back. Some what of a gas guzzler due to the bigger displacement engine. Probably a little higher insurance rate since ur still only 19.. and im sure there are people that can chime in on pros and cons from first hand exp.

Not only do I agree with the above comment.. but I have to say that I think this is an exceptional answer from a 17 year old!
But, I think the TSX looks much better than the G35 anyway... especially from the front... and its just more practical overall.. imo.

Plus, do you really want to give up stick? Someone stole my "beater" 99 Civic coupe (still pissed off about that) right before I started a project where I'd be driving a lot, even on gravel roads for a short distance. My parents were cool enough to let me drive their fairly new Civic (they weren't using it anyway) because they know I'm crazy about keeping my car in perfect condition (probably the reason my '99 was stolen).
Anyway, long story short- the project's finally over and I'm in total withdrawal from hardly driving stick these last few weeks. Maybe you don't care as much, I don't know, but I need my stick.

I'm not following the math. I thought the TSX was a less expensive car than a G35 brand new - yes?. So now a 2005 TSX w/77K kms is worth $2000 more than a same year G35 w/33kms? Unless I've got that wrong, it raises a red flag. Why is the G35 less expensive, when it's a more expensive car to begin with and has over 50% less fewer miles? If it's me, I'd investigate the heck out of that G35 and find out why it's so cheap. There's always a reason for stuff like that. You'll want to make sure it wasn't wrecked or has some other kind of damage in it's past.
Assuming it's clean, I would warn you about getting rid of a car you like for one that has some known things you don't like about it. I like G35's like the next person, but if you really want a manual and navi, the absence of them is going to bother you. When the "new car" excitement wears off, you may find yourself missing those features more than you think.
So those two things are the risk areas to me. I think that G35 is too good a deal to be true. If so, hold out for the car you really want that you'll have no reservations about.

I would make sure the G35 is a CPO or have them give you an extended warranty (if it is a dealership). Private sale, get the car checked out bumper to bumper for piece of mind.
Be young and have fun! Go for the G35. If you put things into perspective, this car would be waaaaay better compared to anything offered by Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, or Dodge for the same or more money. If Acura keeps its current styling cues, my next car will be a G35/M35/M45 family.
I can't even think about a sports coupe until my youngest is out of the house in 8 years.

Well said, the trade off is going to be for a 2 seating gas guzzler with no room in the back.

As Civickidd chimed in, it just seems pointless to me (and hence a moot point) if the G35 is a slushbox. In order to get a car I personally really wanted, there are certain amenities I'd be willing to sacrifice if I had to... but one of them is not a manual transmission.
Assuming you bought your TSX with a stick b/c you prefer to row your own gears, I can't imagine you'd be happy with the auto. Of course, that's my personal preference...
