Mud guards & Scratches

Has anyone removed their mudguards and found scratches on the paint underneath them?

If so, how long did you have the mudguards?

I just an OEM bodykit and I'm waiting to put it on until after winter. I've had my car about 5 months/10000 miles. The weather has been pretty ugly here lately and my cars been getting really dirty, and I'm wondering if I should take the mudguards off right away before the paints starts getting messed up.

What do u guyz think?

You say:

Using some Honda Spray Polish, I was able to remove the majority of the crap. However, a fine but noticeable haze was impacted into the paint. I can probably remove that with a fine grade polish, so I will try that tomorrow, weather permitting.
Makes me think it's not really a scratch but just a build up of mud and junk...

It took a PC and some 1Z polish to get it all out after a thorough cleaning of the area.

I removed the mudguards right after I got the car and reinstalled them after having 3M Stoneguard (the "Clear Bra" hood film) patches applied where the guards touch the paint. So far it seems to be doing a good job of protecting the paint from damage. The film extends out about 5mm from under the mudguards and is only visible if you really look hard for it.
