Mpg

The mpg displayed on the 06 HUD averages in 0mpg whenever you are stopped at a red light. This makes the mpg go down. Anyone know where to get an accurate reading on the MPG?

Drive Until Fuel Light Comes On
Immediately Stop and Fill Up
Reset Trip 1
Drive Until Fuel Light Comes On Again
Immediately Stop and Fill Up

Divide the Mileage from Trip 1 by the number of gallons of fuel pumped.

Wow, your pissed. About what?

Why don't you just ask your question rather than act like a fool.

When you come to a stop, you are averaging 0 MPG. That is your MPG at the moment. When you start to move again, it averages the stopped time and the moving time to give real time MPG at that moment. The car is giving you what you're asking for ie. the MPG at the Moment. I am unclear what other data you want?

ok so the hud displays AVERAGE mpg. unfortunetly, it also averages your mpg when u have stopped moving so this is an example of how it works. youre driving with mpg of 25 and then u come to a red light. the red light drops ur average mpg to 20 making ur mpg inaccurate since your car is not that bad. how do i get the average mpg that doesnt average in your stops? btw, ellas9, i did ask my question, you guys dont understand it.

You can't get an average of just the moving moments.

You need to make your questions clearer. I think you haven't asked a single question thus far that hasn't elicited some sort of confusion.

And of course it's going to average in the MPG when you're not moving. Even at idle, the engine uses fuel. How do you think it maintains that 700 rpm idle speed?

maybe you should finish school before you ask questions on how a car works.

I'm pretty sure I understand your question, and I don't think it's possible to get this info.

The MPG the manufacturers state for city driving includes stops, traffic, etc. as part of the cycle. The number you see should be comparable to the city MPG figure if you're seeing a lot of red lights.
