moving on, traded my tsx in

first i'd like to say that i loved my tsx, but a black sapphire metallic 330i has stolen my heart. i traded my 04 tsx in a couple weeks ago on a 06 330i sport and there's no comparison. the tsx is a great car, and i don't even think its fair to compare the two. quality/design/finish are close, but obviously the bimmer takes it hands down in handling and performance. the tsx even got quite a few compliments at the bmw store

this site has been a great help and i just want to thank everyone. it was a huge help when i first bought my tsx and over the past 2 years with questions and discussion you have all been great. you have a great site here, keep it up!

cheers
-dan

Congrats, definently no comparison between the two, but considering the price difference, nor should there be.

I'd probly be a 330 as well if they weren't 55K CAD.

Question, how much more solid does the Bimmer feel in comparison? One thing thats been bugging me about my car lately is how loose it feels.

as many small or electrical problem european experiences.. i drive my sisters 325 sometimes. and lots of my friend has bmw and mbz... they drive a lot more solid than tsx and japanese cars... over the bump. into that hard corner turn.. over those pot hole roads... european is european......................solid sound solid feeling

the one i got is a 2006 330i with sports package, premium package and the cold weather package. its black sapphire metallic with black leather interior. sticker came in a little over 43k. i was able to deal a little bit, but b/c it was a sport model it makes them less willing to move

as far as the handling, its definitely a lot stiffer than the tsx. that's the point though right? the car handles like its on rails. it just takes the corners effortlessly. no body roll, great balance. the 330's engine is tuned lot nicer and has a better intake than the 325 which gives the car quite a kick and a healthy growl. the sound of the car is amazing. plus it's rear wheel drive, which changes the car dynamics a lot. the verdict is still out on runflat tires. the car is designed for runflats, but that tire technology is far from mature.

my tsx felt like it was losening up a bit in the last year. i can't say for sure if it was something mechanical, or if it was my head. it still handled well though. the tsx is a great car for the money and for the price i don't think you can beat it. its not a bmw though, and its unfair to compare the two. car and driver compared the 3 to the TL, but as always the 3 swept the comparison. you can't beat the standard when it comes to sports sedans.

as far as the electrical comments, from what i've read on the e90 forums, there aren't a lot. sure a few people have had them, but its limited. most complaints are the runflats, a few rattles. the tsx has far more rattles (i had an 04) than the e90 does though. us first year tsx owners endured (and still do) a lot more problems in that area than i've seen in the e90 so far.

anyway, my 3 is pretty dirty right now. i'll clean it up tomorrow and post some pics

I couldn't bring myself to spend 40K on a 3 series.

40K could go so much further on other vehicles, in what my opinion would be a better vehicle.

i love the new 330i, but i would've waited until the 330xi comes out and i see you're from ohio, doesn't it snow a lot there and i know the 330i is only rear wheel drive. i don't know about you, but i will have trouble driving that in the snow.

yeah, i'm in cincinnati. winters here are hit and miss, but i agree it is a concern. the thing i worry about most right now is the tires and i'm debating buying a second set of wheels for winter. the sport package comes with bridgestone potenza re050a's which are listed as max performance summer tires. i've heard they are 'ok' in cold weather, but useless in snow. cincinnati is kind of on the border when it comes to snow. some winters are mild and we don't see much, others are horrific. i may have to bite the bullet and buy some wheels, or just burn these tires up and replace them in the next few months with all season, although with 18" wheels i'm not sure if those would be any better in snow.

cmf - yeah, 40 grand is a lot for a 3, but i've got no regrets. i could have gotten a 325 for about 10 grand less, but if you're gonna get a bmw you might as well go all the way. i drove it and didn't think twice. i can't think of another car i'd want. well, maybe the m3 when it comes out

Dun worry about RWD BMW on snow, just get a set of decent snow tire is good enough. I have been driving my 328i for 6 winters in Toronto already. It shouldn't be ne problem driving on snow with a good balanced RWD such as BMW, S2000 or Miata but winter tire is a must.

Congrats on the new car! I love the new 3 series, the sport package is a must! You're right you cant compare the 330 and the TSX. The 330 is $15,000 more, I mean it better be a nicer car. I love the handling of the 330, its amazing. But for me, I don't need $700+ car payments right now....

Anyhow,

Have fun!
