all Mobil 1 filters go with the synthetic oil. The "M-???" is just the part number for different cars. Autozone should have a book with the corresponding part number with the car. The TSX uses the same oil filter as the 2003 Accord.

I'd follow TWong's advice; OEM only. I've seen filters come apart (split) during cold weather start on Honda engines in the past. Let me tell you, when it's -20 (C or F, I dont care) and the thing let's go, it's no fun. You'll regret the $1.00 you saved a few weeks back. If you have ever seen a Honda brand filter cut in half versus a cheaper one, you'll see the construction is very different, from the wall thickness, to the cold weather relief valve found insisde.

I just did a search on the 'old' site and it seems that the filter is the same between the rsx/4 cylinder accord ('03.) I was going to go with the OEM filter until I saw that it was made by Fram.

I'm trying to find the links about the filters.

http://www.minimopar.net/oilfilters.html <---lists the fram filters as "filters to aviod".

the k series uses different oil filters than other honda series engines. such as D, B and so on. the oil filter is smaller , reason to build up faster oil pressure to lubricate the timing chain. and the other reason is to avoid damage from the cv axle.

the 03 accord 4 cylinder oil filter is the same as the tsx. the 03 accord 6 cylinder oil filter is different.

The Crv, 03 accord (4 cylinder) , TSX, RSX uses the same oil filter. SO basically the K series. but you can use the small oil filter on the other Honda series engines as well.

All Honda's use a MOBIL M-104

I hope this helps.
It would be the same as an Accord filter, thanks.

THANKS for the link! I was really surprised at the chap's personal experiences.

I had been using Fram filters for many many years, and I've never had any problems with them. But, I do change my oil and filter every 2500 miles, so perhaps problems might not have occurred.

In any case, my previous and current Accords have all been exemplary in long-life performance and reliability. If anything negative resulted in my use of Fram oil filters and regular 10w-30 motor oil, it's not at all obvious. We're looking at two cars with over 200,000 miles and my current one--a virtual youngster--with only 108,000 miles.

By the way, the factory original oil filter that was in my 1990 Accord was none other than Delco. I don't know which line. Perhaps Delco won the bid that year.

Mobil 1 oil filters are one of the best filters in the world of oil filters. Honda OEM filters are good depending on where they are made. Honda has 3 versions of their OEM filters. The JDM oil filter being the best, the Assembled in USA being the next best (essentially the JDM filter but with a different cartridge (not as good as JDM cartridge)), and the Made in Canada (the worst of the 3). Of the 3, only the JDM one can compare to the Mobil 1 filter... but you are going to pay twice as much for the Mobil 1 filter.
