Miles per tank?

I'm just curious to what people have gotten on their best tank of gas. I usually run mine about 280 at 12 gallons (buggy fuel gauge has gotten me into the habit of an early fill instead of waiting til the 17 gallon capacity). But I did do a trip to upstate new york and back driving about 450 miles on one tank, can't remember how many gallons i used.

Anyways, how many miles have you guys squeezed out of your tanks?

550 miles on one tank. 99% highway. Driven like a Granma.

just got the tsx a few weeks ago, been keeping track to compare it to my 98 CL. so far

118 miles on 5.9 gallons
152 miles on 7.5 gallons
142 miles on 7.4 gallons

probably 80% city driving.

The most was 465 miles from one tank from 100% hwy driving before I chicken-out and stopped for gas. Having speed limits at 75-80 mph and interstate mountain passes +11,000 ft; it is hard to maintain +30 mpg on the hwy. I regret never joining the 500 mile club with the TSX.

Who needs a new dorky looking smart car or homely Prius hybrid if you can get +450 hwy miles from a 06 TSX with +80,000 miles (and look good while doing it).

I usually go 325-340 per tank during commuter driving with 60% hwy.

i get around 415-430 per tank in my 04 6spd. and that is always driving spirited...I have a manual trans and an LSD, how could I not? My best was just over 500 miles on one tank.
Even when i fill up with 415-430 on one tank, I can never get more than 15-16 gallons in before its full.

Summer, 270-280. Winter, 230-250. Driving is like 80% city, though. My commute is stop-n-go unfortunately. My car gets wretched mileage and I'm getting tired of owning it for that among other reasons.

I can't edit my post anymore but I should have noted I drive approximately 70% city.

It's 17.1 gallons and yes the light comes on way too early. I think I had over 4 gallons when it came on last time which is almost 1/4 tank left.

I was thinking the same thing. The last time I filled mine, the gauge was resting just above the E and I had the fuel light on. I filled the tank and only got a bit over 13 gallons in. Either my tank is NOT 17.1 gallons or the gauge, warning light, and the DTE are off by a lot.

I'd wish they would get rid of ethanol enhanced gas... I was able to find some "pure" gas and got 4 miles more per gallon. Unfortunately the only station I know of is like 30 miles away.

I've notice I can still put in about 1 1/2 to 2 ¼ gal of gas when the gas filler handle thingy clicks off. It can take longer to put in the last 2 gallons compared to the first 13 gallons of gas because the handle clicks off every second. I usually put in another 1 to 1 ½ gallons of gas after it clicks off (I don’t top it off). I figure if I put in the extra gallon of gas each fill-up, it will save me about 1-2 trips to the gas station each year.

winter time i get around 375 from topped off to almost on E line....summer i get close to 500 and i drive like a banshee (80mph, hard accels)...the big difference between the two seasons is the temp change and my winter tires are not fuel efficient compared to my all seasons

i love topping off the tank. about 110 miles go off the odometer before the needle falls below the F line haha

Either your car is not running properly, or you are not running properly, or both. I think I could enter a race and get 270mi out of a tank.

My worst mpg to date is 28. I'm averaging 30 now which should get me 510mi on a 17 gallon fill.

One of these days I will throw a small gas can in the trunk and break 500mi.

You're not alone, my car's always been this way. I can pull nearly 400 on a long road trip (highway, 70-75mph), but my usual city + stop/go commute pulls 250-270. It sucks.

Add me to the same list.
Im surprised at the numbers people are posting. I've never gotten more than 310-320 from one tank, even with Chevron 94 octane. I can never get more than 15 gallons in a tank.
Its an 04 Auto with 49k miles, spark plugs were done last year. The air filter was pretty dirty, which I just replaced with K&N shortram. Still on my first tank with the new intake so hoping to get better mileage this time.

The temp really affects things, but when it's cold my 5at gets to about 290 miles about 330 at least in summer until the light comes on that's with new plugs, I wonder if my ailing accelerator sensor is killing mileage too...

I drove my last tank of gas like a grandmother and got 270 miles when the light came on. I don't know what that is in mpg, math is for nerds. Regardless of my driving style, my car seems to hit 250-270 miles per tank. I need to buy a Jetta TDI or something.

What's your driving mix typically like, though? At your mileage, I'm assuming a lot of highway miles. I'm cursed with a primarily city/stop&go daily drive, which isn't helping anything.

is the range number an exact measure of how much fuel you have in the tank, or is it an estimated number based on how your driving at that moment? It seem as
if the range is losing fuel faster than it should. For example, the range may say
100 miles, I go a quarter of a mile and it'll go down to 99 miles. I didnt even
drive a full mile.

I usually get between 330-350 miles by the time the fuel light comes on.

It adapts to your recent usage. Also, it's very conservative with how many more miles you can get out of a tank. I don't ever look at the reading, but I wouldn't be surprised if I could go another 60 miles past the indicated 0 miles remaining indication.

My light just came on at 390 miles today, and usually I get 400 before it turns on. Then I will drive another 40 miles before filling up. I'm using an Ultra Gauge to more accurately estimate fuel remaining and MPGs. The estimates for fuel remaining and MPGs provided by the car computer are very inaccurate.

I aired my tires up (42psi all around, Pirelli P-Zero Nero 235/40/18) on the weekend, and yesterday my gas light came on at 275 miles. I guess that's the best I can do with my primarily city/stop and go traffic commute.

Once my sister has her kid () I'll be making a lot of trips between CT and PA, and that'll give me a better idea of what the car can do on highway cruises.

400-450 mainly city driving

Tend to fill up early due to gas gauge
