Mileage on new car...
Just a quick question about what kind of mileage should be on a "new" car. I just bought a TSX about a week ago. It had about 130 miles on it at the time. Didn't think twice about this until I read a post here about someone worrying about having 25 miles on a car when they want to pick it up. Should I be concerned that the car had 130 miles on it when I got it? I just assumed they were test drive miles since this car was bought off the lot?

130 miles is a lot. Could have been from driving it from one dealer to another, but they should have flat bedded it if they did a dealer swap and not put mileage on the car.
Ask your dealer how did the car get 130 miles on it.

Thanks...
I guess I am not to worried about it. I went over the car with a fine tooth comb before buying it (had a BAD experience getting a hail damaged car about 5 years ago). It is flawless to the eye. Just worried about break in a little with 130 already on it.

I just got my TSX and it came from a dealership 400 miles away. They weren't willing to flatbed it (I didn't push them to hard on the idea, however), so I took the day off to go pick my baby up and drive her myself. Just make sure that your warranty is for the standard 50,000 + mileage at time of purchase. Your car should be fine since you still have 500 more miles to break it in properly...

Mine had about 20 miles on it, the salesguy said he drove it for about 10 minutes to make sure everything was ok....i really didnt care though i just wanted my car. I dont know how some of you do it. Having to wait for the car, they told me 2 weeks and i got it in 3 days but man it was the longest 3 days of my life.

Yes, it is an 05, but it was on the lot when I bought it. I think many people are saying they have 2,4,7,etc. miles on their cars because they were ordered? This car was bought off the lot where it was probably test driven many times (I guess?).

If not that dealer sucks.
I just hope that car was not test-driven the way some guys do to demo cars.

I bought my 2004 in Mid September and it had less than 10 miles on it. Can't remember the EXACT mileage, but i know it was a single digit.
It now has 6,000 miles on it and its been 4 months! which means ~18,000 miles per year.
thats no good in my book. I shouldn't be putting on more than 15k miles per year. But my commute to work will almost definitely prevent that. my weekly commuting total is like 230 miles!

Dealer
The dealer did go over the mileage, just the sheet that states the current mileage. To tell you the truth I thought nothing of it at the time and don't really care a whole lot now. Just thought the mileage was a little strange after reading some posts here. Now if it had 3 or 4 hundred I wouldn't have bought it. 130 seems like it is possible from test drives. I know I drove the car about 20 on mine and I figure the dealer drove it some just to make sure it was OK.

Nope
I have owned only new cars in the last 8 to 10 years. To tell you the truth I have never paid any attention to what the mileage is. I am buying a new car, I know it has never been over about 100-150, but besides that I inspect for damage and don't worry about the miles. Why should anyone worry about a few miles on a "new" car. When I go to buy a car I don't want to wait months to get it delivered. I go find a car I like and buy it. If this car would not have been on the lot I was ready to buy a 325i that the BMW dealer had on the lot. Is 130 miles really something to be concerned about? I assume a dealer would not let someone destroy a car's engine on a test drive? Is that not the case?

Water under the bridge my friend. Don't worry about it. My car was at 3 diffrent dealers before I got it. 2 deals fell through I guess. I had ordered one and got it 2 months early, so I was as happy as a pig in shxx. The weird thing, when it got to the 3rd dealership it still had the plastic on it, but had dealer options on it already. The car had 10 miles on it when I bought it 4 days ago, 300 now. I love this car!

mj, I would say your car was likely the tester.

I had 17 on the ODO, but my test drive was about 15 miles (must say that the salesman was excellent and insisted that I see how the car did on the freeway, so we had to drive a little ways to the interstate).
