MazdaSpeed 6 vs TSX

MazdaSpeed 6 vs TSX
New to the Forums. First, thanks for all of the great posts. I have been reading this forum for about a month now and almost all of my questions have been answered. Looking into a new car and TSX is currently at the top of the list. Current car is a 1998 Accord EX V6.
Any thoughts on the new MazdaSpeed 6 vs TSX?
The new MazdaSpeed looks very promising. HP isn't everything but 274 is always nice. Torque is 280+ on the M/6 as well. Makes the TSX's 166 look a bit weak.
The looks are very aggressive from the photos i have seen and I almost prefer it to the rather bland exterior of the TSX. Suspension has been beefed up so I assume the handling will be a bit better then the current 6.
I think the interior/fit finish and reliability are all on the TSX side.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Robert

The MazdaSpeed 6 looks appealing at first, but note that neither leather or a sunroof will be standard, so expect to pay in the realm of $32-33k to match the TSX' standard equipment. Thats an awful lot for a Mazda (which history shows will depreciate like crazy).
For that money, I'd probably get a G35, which has more power, has a better/more luxurious interior, better resale value, better warranty, and the list goes on. You can even get AWD. Plus, the VQ will deliver smooth grunt throughout the power band. That turbo four in the Mazda will make laggy, peaky power, with the power actually dropping through the last 1000 RPM toward redline.

AWD and more horses/torque is all the MS6 has on the TSX...

Personally, and this is the first time I have ever said this... I would get the 6. I was thinking about waiting for it. But it was out of my price range. If you can afford to make it comparably equipped to the TSX I would go for it. A few nice features are the fold away navi and the no key start... I love that shit!!

The Mazdaspeed 6 just occupies a weird spot. It claims to be TSX, TL or g35 competitor, but it doesn't have the luxury cache. It doesn't want to be compared to the WRX STI or Lancer Evo, but what do you think of when you say you have a $30k AWD Japanese Sedan w/ 270 hp that is a hopped-up version of a family sedan...and the company that makes it starts with an M?
It just isn't worth the premium. The aforementioned cars are better values.

Dont you people realize you can walk into any Mazda dealer and say " invoice - rebate and we have a deal for a 6" Happened to me. 4 grand off sticker for my V6 mtx. So all this talk about resale value is lame. You pay less for the car up front so you get less back when its time to sell.

One word on the Mazdaspeed: GEARBOX!
I am very curious of seeing how many gearbox issues they will be getting. They already have very weak gearboxes as it is, I don't see the stock gearbox going in the turbo version, and even with a beefed up gearbox, will it hold up?
Lots of problems ahead.

Do you understand what residual value is?
If your theory is right, then explain why a $50K BMW M3 is $40K after 3 years and a $50K Audi A6 is $26K after 3 years?
