Exclamation Max load

Did a search but it didnt pull anything.

How come our max load is only 850lbs. My friends ridicule me all the time about the wiehgt limit. But i just tell them "that i didnt by the car for them."

However, 850 seems a bit low with the avg weight of five people being 180 that already puts you 50 pounds overweight. Not to mention fuel weighs six pounds per gallon (aviation grade 100LL), luggage and the sort it can be easy to go over the weight limit with even four people. So... two questions is 850 too little? And Second, is it bad to drive 100-200 lbs overweight?

Thanks

I noticed that same thing too when I was reading through the manual. I haven't tried fully loading my car, but it just seems odd to have it so low on a passenger vehicle.

It's probably due to Acura's intention of making the TSX a sports sedan...

2006 Acura TSX - introduction

The TSX sports sedan complements the sporty TL and the luxurious RL in Acura's lineup of performance luxury sedans.
In keeping with its European competitors, the TSX driving character is sharply focused on the sporty end of the scale. Its double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension has sophisticated geometry that helps the TSX corner flat and resist acceleration lift and braking dive.
Thus, our suspension wasn't designed to carry massive weight to and fro...it was designed to let us enjoy the curves more. As more weight gets piled into the TSX, the camber goes more and more negative (it's -1 in the rear to begin with). I guess with enough weight, it's possible to cause the camber to go out of range?

Or maybe the suspension is the same as other suspensions...it's just that our cars are too heavy, and that's why it takes away from our max load ;-) lol

EDIT: We have a big trunk though, so I would have thought the Acura engineers would have wanted us to carry around alot of stuff....hehe
