I though that I would give the 6MT another chance before making a final decision. I went to the dealer today with my daughter who drives a standard Civic to try both the 6MT and the SS5AT.

I was alot smoother with the 6MT and really liked it and when we finished the test drive, I was thinking that the 6MT would be a good choice. I then tried the AT and for the first time ever tried the SS. The salesman didn't go with us on this drive so I was more willing to push the TSX.

I was actually very impressed with the SS and went around an on ramp rated for 80 kmh/ 50 mph at 140 kmp in 3rd gear on the AT. I found that it both down and up shifted very well in the manual mode.

It's different than the standard but can still give you a feeling of greater control and I especially liked it for downshifting just prior to wanting to pass someone. My daughter who is very pro manual transmission had to admit that the SS was "cool".

I'm past my street light racing days so the AT with the SS will suit my driving needs.

(ps - boy, can the TSX really take the curves and I can see myself getting a few speeding tickets if I am not careful)

Hey Excited,
If you you dont think you will miss the MT, then getting the AT tranny will be fine,.car will perform awesome,....the SS is good...and the car is great regardless of tranny choice,....as you already know and seem to have decided on the AT. I would just caution that you make sure you wont miss having a manual,............For me,....I dont think I could ever get an AT an be totally happy,...........I would miss the fun of manual,....and I like being in total control of what the car is doing/using the clutch etc. Regarless of AT or MT,...you win with the acura because its such a great car. I just picked up my new 05 NBP/ebony MT today,......well, its late,...so yesterday,.........and enjoyed every shift on my way home. I keep looking out my window at it sitting in the back yard LOL.

Now all I have to do is get comfortable backing it out of my driveway. The cars get parked in the backyard,...so you have to drive up the driveway,......between my house and the one next door,........its pretty darn narrow to say the least. I was good getting the old nissan out cause its a smaller car,....but I have to get my dad to do the infiniti we have because its too wide,..........im not kidding, there is about an inch on either side of the mirrors,.......I dunno how my dad gets it down going backwards. Going up is not too hard. The new TSX,.....as I discovered today,....has about,.....2 inches to work with on either mirror (4 total),......so it will be tough for me to learn,...cause now I have to be able to do the infiniti and the TSX. IM TOO SCARED to try with the TSX cause i dont wanna mess it up,.hahaha.

Thanks for the advice. Six years ago I only drove manuals and last six with an AT, so there won't be a culture shock of staying with the AT. The fun will be playing with the SS.

As you say either choice is a win. I would be extremely happy if I had to take either transmission and get easily understand the fun factor of the MT.

I see that you chose black as your colour. How do you like it and how did you make your final decision. (not to digress from the theme of the thread)

Well, we were looking at CG or NBP. Without getting into too detail (i would write a novel), we couldnt find a GC MT,...and it was tough to find the NBP MT we bought. The CG is nice, but we got our hands on the black and took it,....... I REALLY like black for some reason,.haha,..keep it clean,..looks great,....I think long run I will be more happy with black,.....besides cleaning it. Basically the two factors in the decision were,......either the grey or black for colour,...and I WANT MT. It will be hard, but I am going to try to keep this car clean and looking good. OH,.........its looks GREAT,.....gave it a wash when I got home,..but need to go buy new washing supplies.

Now the only problem is getting it up and down the driveway safely. We have to park in the backyard,....so the cars go up and down the driveway in between our house and next door (car width is always taken into consideration for my family,..because some cars are too wide for the driveway,..folding mirrors impt too). My dads Ininiti I30t has only and inch or so of clearance on each side of the mirrors between the houses. Going up the driveway (part of which is inclined) is not too hard,....backing out is another story. I discovered yesterday when I got the car home and CAREFULLY,....I cant stress this enough,......took in into the back,...that the TSX has about 2inches, give or take on each mirror. I can do the old small Nissan we had with my eyes closed,......but I have never done the Infiniti or the TSX (of course) and now have to do both regularily. Im REALLY worried about the TSX,....I dont want to scratch or damage any of it,.....but I have to get it out to drive,.hahahaha,....very little room for error. Im hoping I will never have to post a thread about how I took out my car on the side of the house while backing out......both myself and Dad have damaged mirros mirrors pretty good. Sorry, this long,......off topic novel I wrote probably made people mad.
