Main Req'd Light?

Recently that light has been staying on for a few seconds after the car has been started. After reading the manual, I found a statement i think on pg 67 that said something about after the 8000 mile service the light will stay on for 2 seconds or something similar. Cant remember exactly.

So since i am pretty sure its normal, what is the purpose of this? has anyone else noticed it?

Are you up to 8000 miles yet? I am at 7150 miles on mine, so I have not reached that plateau yet. If you are at 8000 miles though, then it looks like you need to go in to the dealer for your 8000 mile service.

10,000 miles is your oil change interval per the manual ... so the light is just reminding you about that. Once you hit 10K miles it will stay solid and on when you drive to let you know you are overdue. If you take your car in at different intervals this setup is pretty much useless and all you can do is reset the light (should be in the manual how to do it, but service techs should do it really).

I think the dealer forgot to reset it. Read your manual, it tells how to reset it, there should be a button somewhere under the dash console.

If you had your oil changed at your dealer, they should've reset it for you, but if you have someone else changed your oil, you would have to reset it yourself.
