Mac OS X Users - Acurazine TSX Widget?

I've seen that a certain other site offers a widget the will show new posts in their RSX forum. Anyone here know if there is something available like this for our favorite TSX site?

On the newest Mac Operating System (aka Tiger) you can run small applications called widgets. They are pretty basic, but really cool.

Dashboard Widgets Overview

I think on a PC you can do something similar with Konfabulator but it costs $20

I read that. Soopa seems pretty hell-bent on not writing one. My guess is he's a PC guy saying why waste the time writing something I can't use. I can understand that. I tried his suggestion to edit the code but couldn't get it to work (I'm no programmer). Might try it again later. Anyone else try it and get it to work?

Allright, I found a way to do it. Download this widget
RSS Widget

and then set it to check this RSS feed
https://acurazine.com/forums/external.php?type=rss

Works good. Only thing is I wish it would update faster than every 1/2 hour, but maybe that's something I can try to change later.

I think some widgets are useful, others are not. Two that I find pretty useful are the stock checker and wireless network finder (on my laptop at least). Some others I like are the baseball scores and the magic eight ball but they are just for fun.

I do admit thought that a widget for this site is of limited value because you would still have to go to the web browser to read the full threads. Anyways, I'm glad to know there are some other Mac guys around here. One trick I just learned recently in Tiger . . . put your mouse over any word (you don't even have to select it) and hit Control-Command-D. Nothing major, but kind off neat. Peace.

Why use a widget?

Instead of a widget, drag the URL below into your Safari bookmark bar or your favorite RSS newsreader.

The value of the widget is to be able to check the new posts quickly, along with my stocks, weather, baseball scores, etc. all at once without the need for going to several different web pages or even having to open a web browser.

RSS feeds (viewed in a browser) are much more useful for things like news stories that aren't normally displayed in a nice simple list, but since our forums already are in a list, what's the point?
