Angry Low on oil already?????

Ok, I have about 2300 miles on my car. I had it since mid Sept.
I go check the oil today (1st time since I bought the car, and I know to check regularly but I either was too lazy or forgot) and it was low, i mean below the 1st dot low. So i put in a quart of Mobil 1.

Does this engine burn that much oil????

Yes, during break-in, it is normal to have to add up a little bit more oil. It should settle pretty soon, though. Maybe you won't even have to add some more anymore.

I had the same problem at about the same mileage. It has'nt happened again though. Like sauceman said, its probly caused by engine break in.

Did you let the car sit for awhile after you drove it to check the oil? Adding in an entire quart seems like a lot.

The car sat for about 3 days.

Mine used up (or was low anyway) about a quart early on like that too. Hasn't lost any since (at 10,500km now).

Lots of Honda's burn a 1/2-1 quart of oil during breakin. After that it stops.

It's normal. During break-in it's normal to burn off some oil. Just check it regularly until your first oil change (like once a week or during fillup) I am 30% down from full now (70% from low point), and I only have 800 miles on it. Gonna fill up the oil now

Stops huh! 14k plus and still uses oil. I am not to impressed with this motor and it is most likely blow by than burning of the oil. I swithced to 10/30 wt. oil we shall see if this helps. The dealer said this is normal and many on this board say it is a trait of the K-series motors K-20 K-24 ETC. ETC. I personally don't buy it, a new car should not have an issue with blow by or oil consumption of any sort.

you don't have to "buy it" but it's very common wit all the kseries high reving motors(k20a2, k24a2) as well as the f20c. I used 1/2 quarter in the first 5k miles, haven't used any since(almost 10k). If you want to see cars with oil consumption problems look at a VW...makes the breakin problem seem minimal.
