We bought our '06 TSX last night. AT with navi, now we need to get new cell phones with bluetooth. Our carrier is Cingular, any suggestions?

Here's the link to the Acura Canada site which lists which phones are compatible. Look at the bottom left.

I'm going through the same thing. They don't make it easy to find a phone that will be fully functional (e.g., it seems that many phones will work, but most won't display their battery and signal level on your Multi-Info Display, or will leave some other function(s) unsupported).
www.handsfreelink.com will take you to Acura's Bluetooth support page. You can look up supported phones by carrier, but I find when I then go to the carrier's site I rarely find the phones that Acura claims they offer. I think the site is just out of date.
For example, even though www.handsfreelink.com lists Cingular as offering 25 compatible phones, I just looked at Cingular's website and I can't find a single one of them.
So good luck, and if you get anywhere, post about it here! I could use help, too...

Yeah I noticed the handfreelink site shows the motorola v3 which I can get here, wondering if anyone has personal experience with a certain model?

What's funny is the phone they show all over the demos, motorola v600, is the phone I have (except for I did the hong kong onversion to the 600i), and if you look at the accepted phones the V600 has an X next to it because it doesn't show battery life. Guess it really doesn't matter. I just hope I can voice dial with the names I have programmed into the phone. ANyone know if you can program a name to show up on the ID instead of just a number?

i'm currently using the moto mpx220 - gotta love windows mobile - but it doesn't support things fully. So I upgraded my original phone, moto c333, that I got from rogers to the new moto v551. I may switch to this cuz i carry a pda around anyway and don't really need my mpx as a pda.

Really? You sound like Data...." I am fully functional" I'm surprised you get battery strength? I just figured it was a "moto" thing not to show it. I have the V3 and except for the battery level, it works fine with the car. My sony K700i showed the battery and signal strength, but it was nowhere close (on T-mobile) on call quality to the V3 (on Cingular).

From what I understand, the Moto v710 wasn't fully functional in its early days, but it is now because of better firmware. Some other Motos are fully functional, too, but not many.
I've seen two different people post (elsewhere, I think) that their Moto E815 is fully functional, even though handsfreelink.com says it lacks battery level display. So I may go ahead and pay Verizon $320 for one (since I'm already their customer), but I'd rather pay them $175 for early termination, and get my Bluetooth phone free from another carrier.
That would be both cheaper and more satisfying.

Well to me, battery strength isn't all that important so I wouldn't sweat it if it didn't work.

I dunno, I kinda like to know when my phone needs charging. And if I have to take it out of my pocket to find out... well, that's just the kind of hard labor I'm trying to avoid with Acura's much-touted HandsFreeLink system.
The other functions often not supported are signal strength, and Acura's remote diagnostics system, shown as "data call" in the www.handsfreelink.com charts, and I believe formally known as AcuraLink.
Now Colin, you wouldn't want our TSX's out here possibly suffering maladies, with the mothership unable to diagnose them because AcuraLink is unsupported, would you?
(Hope you don't mind me joshin' ya a little...)

the cingular treo 650 works great with the system.
Just pick mine up two days ago....carbon grey, 5sp, nav, 17" high performance wheels.
the system should work with several b-tooth phones....there's is a website that lists them...cannot remember - but salesman gave me a printout webpage for the treo 650 specifically. (try googling it).

I have both the Motorola RAZR V3 and the V80. Both work really well with the HandsfreeLink. My parents had the SE T616 and that worked in my mom's RL. Now they have Motorola V330 (I think?) and they seems to work with the RL as well.
My carriers are Cingular and T-mobile respectively and my parents had Cingular before and T-mobile now.

Just to add, I have a Sony Ericsson Z520A that I bought over the weekend from Cingular. It's not listed on the HFL Acura site, but does work perfectly with the system. It also shows battery and signal strength. The phone was fairly cheap and functions great.
I initially wanted a Razor, but 2 out of 3 people that I knew had problems with it. Maybe the problems are fixed now?

lg vx8100
my lg vx8100 works nicely. will soon have another phone to compare it to, just don't know which phone yet.
do others get the speaker "pop" noise, when you make or receive a call? i'm wondering if that's an issue.

i love the phone....
what are "all the features"????? it seems to work fine.
i don't know why it does, or if i have the volume too loud, but when it switches to the phone for me to answer, or for me to call, it makes a pop noise, the speaker "pops"

Felix, I have a question about your Motorola V710
Felix, to get the Motorola V710 to "link up" with the TSX each day, I press the top centre button to get the menu, press 6, press 9, press select twice, then press the bluetooth power on yes button and then it links.
Do you know of a short cut?
Thanks

Does that make sense?
i'll have to try tomorrow if i get a chance!
i would imagine it all works, if not, i'm gonna be VERY upset. i cant go back on this phone, and i'm stuck with it for 2 years then...

Mine has worked flawless after the initial pairing.
One way to avoid this is to go to the bluetooth setup screen and turn the bluetooth power to permanently on. This way, when you get near a bluetooth peripheral that the phone has been paired with, it will link up automatically.
What I have done with both my phones is just set up one of the buttons to act as a shortcut to the bluetooth menu so that I don't have to go hunt through a series of menus everytime. Then, I simply hit the button and select "Handsfree" to turn on the bluetooth to my phone and the car links up automatically. Allows for quick access and longer battery life.

Lg Vx8100
So i sat in the car this reason due to the request i check my phone with the bluetooth (as if i really needed an excuse)
well, the first time i connected, the battery life said empty, so i thought, oh well it doesnt work, but the signal strength showed. then i tried again, and it displayed. it displayed the number when i called, but i used voice command to dial, so i figured that's why? i didnt set any numbers up in the address book yet, don't know how.
so the speakers "pop" when starts dialing. i'm not sure why. anyone else experience this?

so acura says that the VX8100 is ok to pair, handsfree call, incoming call, call transfer, and call hang up
but it's not compatible for "data call" (dunno what this is), call waiting (bummer if this is true), manual digitial tones (no idea what this is), battery levels (unless it stays at "full" all the time, it looks like this works), and signlar strength (also appeared to work this morning).
if i cant have call waiting, i seriously might need another phone. i wonder if i can do anything to get a differrent phone from verizon. i've only had this one for 3 months or so.
