Like the new car smell?

If you like the new car smell, you'll be glad to know that atleast in our TSX it won't kill you 20 yrs down the road. If you drive a Nissan Versa.....you'll probably grow some new ears out of your chest or something (according to the testing of the following website).

"Many of these chemicals are not chemically bound to the parts and are consequently released into the environment during the life of the product. One of the common ways chemicals are released is referred to as “off-gassing,” and evidence of this is sometimes present as a window film or “fogging” that develops on the inside of the windshield."

Interesting. I wonder if this is why my dad's Sebring is ALWAYS fogged up inside? I've scrubbed and scrubbed, and those windows never ever come clean, it's really frustrating.

I don't know about the Sebring (btw horrible car, because I had a 2000 Sebring Convertible and had nothing but trouble) but Acura/Honda had a TSB about what to use to clean this film off the windows.

Most ppl will notice their new car smell being gone after they cleaned the windows. So if you want to keep that new car smell longer don't clean your windows.

I guess I'll try to find that TSB for cleaning the windows, mabye that will help. My parents haven't had much trouble with the car (2004 V6 sedan), it's just the fit & finish isn't great, the interior is quite plasticky, and it's not inspiring to drive. They've had just 2 smaller problems fixed under warranty.

heh, i had the exact same problem in my Neon. I used to keep a towel beside me to wipe the windshield down on humid summer days. After I'd wipe it, it was fogged again in 30 minutes. Maybe Chryslers/Dodges are especially bad for you.
