leaving TSX idle without diriving for a month

Hello -

I will be gone on a trip for a month and wondering if the battery will be discharged if it is sitting idle for so long. Should I disconnect the battery ? or else I can ask my friend to start it once every week. What is the best way. Is there any other care I should take?

Thanks.

I had to leave mine for about 3 weeks and didn't have a problem.

You don't have to disconnect the battery, however you should park on an even surface, especially if you have MT.

if this is some less expensive car, I'd doubt the quality of the battery they put in is any "good." But we are looking at a quality luxury car here. I won't even have such thoughts as loosing power because not running the car for a month.

A car is always better off running than sitting. When I travel overseas or without my car, I lend it to a good fiend and tell him that he can use it for his local travellings.

Leave a key with a friend or family member and just ask them to take it out and drive it once a week. That should be fine.

Another thing to think about if you have an AT is that the seals in the transmission will start to dry out if it's not driven regularly. It won't be an immediate problem but could show up later with miles and age. Have a trusted friend take it for a short spin a few times while your gone.

errr, i think this battery stinks, especially for cold weather, sure it's no cheap no name brand but it's no optima. This car could use a little more cold cranking amps.
