Leaving Parking Lights On

Does anyone know how to disable the auto off headlights? I looked in the manual, but to no avail.

I live in an apartment and often times I just park in the back alley to run up to get stuff. When it's dark I like to leave my parking lights on so people hauling ass down the alley don't hit me. But they turn off after leaving for 15 seconds.

should I just run faster?

If you use your key fob, you can turn the lights back on when you get close to your car again. Just hit the unlock button

Edit: That works for the xenons, not sure if it works for the parking lights

You can probably install a manual switch in parallel to the parking light circuit to override the auto lights-off system.

If you put the flashers (emergency lights) on they will stay on until you come back - that's probably safer too.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I think the auto-off works only if you leave the lights on (i.e. after you turned them on when the car was on). They should stay on if you turned on the lights AFTER the car is turned off....

so in your case, turn off car-> turn off lights->turn on lights should make the lights stay on...

...I think that's how the auto-off works, the logic is that if you left the lights on from when you turned on the car till after you turned off, you've probably left it on by accident so it will auto-off.... if you turned it on after the car has been turned off, chances are you turned it on on purpose and it should stay on

you could not close your door all the way either... that will leave the lights on.
