kangjin -- Someone using your pictures on eBay

kangjin---

If you see this, someone on eBay is trying to sell a Comptech System with your Fujitsubo Exhaust system pictures.

eBay Comptech Exhaust

Definitely not cool. Here was kangjin original post...

I guess you can email him and ask him to take them down

His email from the Ebay auction: kenn4g@yahoo.com

...And eventhough it says Kenn, NO, that is not my email address

You can go to the link at the bottom that says Security Center, then click on report another problem and follow the directions to tell eBay that they are using your pictures without your consent. May or may not do anything but it's worth a shot.

I'd change the original picture to a Horse's asshole or something.... just be sure to keep the same file name so the new photo shows up in his auction!

That'd be pretty funny, do the pics point to kangjin's original location or have they been copied elsewhere?

But really, I don't see what the big deal is...he posted the pics on the internet, that makes them fair game does it not?

Unless Kangjin added a copyright mark somewhere on his original image, then it is fair game (i.e., public property).

I'd say it's tough to do anything legally.

If you contact EBay through the procedure written above by another poster, EBay will often stop the auction at its end and they'll have to do their auction all over again. I assume you have to give some proof that it is your image though. I've had one of my auctions stopped because of this (I used an image I thought was from the manufacturer of the product but was from a retailer)

That used to be true years ago, but not any more. The US signed up on to the Berne convention, and basically everything is considered copyrighted unless explicitly stated to be in the public domain. Well, that should be easy enough to look up if someone's interested in verifying...

Looks like the pictures have been moved to a new location. IMO its not that big a deal, but I used to have lots of people linking to the pictures on my website. This created bandwidth problems when I was only allowed "x number" of transfers. Nowdays, to me it's just poor form to use something without getting permisson or at least giving credit.

So conceivably, I could post images that are "mine" on the internet and wait for some putz to use them to make money ... and then sue their ass?

this is why i put a little copyright in the bottom corner of all my pictures and dont post them unless i do that. that way if i find a picture of mine being used and can prove it was only hosted one place and that place has a copyright on it.

It's not that big a deal, just that those pics aren't of a comptech exhaust, I don't know how different the two are...and don't you have to pay to put pics on an ebay auction?

I guess I don't get why someone who could afford a TSX, then a G35, and perf parts on top of that, couldn't take/post their own pics...makes you wonder about the seller, but then he has 100% feedback...

oh well, I emailed the guy, not likely that'll do anything...

HAha, yeah, the other thing I've seen is replacing the picture with some message calling the guy a thief (as in stealing bandwidth).

I would definitely report him because he is posting some pics that are totally incorrect for a Comptech Exhaust.

I still think the horses asshole is a great idea.

Depends. If you hosted the pics and he's using your host you can simply "edit" the pics and use the same name. Put a message on your pics saying "i jacked these pics from another auction, i didn't take these pics, dont bid on my auction. I just got owned".

hahahaha

No, the pictures are his property regardless if he has a copyright embossed on them or not. If you took a picture of your car, then Acura stole it and used it in a national sales campaign, you just won the lotto.
